YOUNG AMBASSADORSWE RUN A YOUNG AMBASSADOR PROGRAMME FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AGED 16–18 YEARS. WE LOOK TO HAVE AT LEAST ONE REPRESENTATIVE FROM EACH LOCAL AUTHORITY IN SCOTLAND.

I am really enjoying being a Young Ambassador as I have met new people who share my love for classical music. Throughout the year I have attended

forums to discuss ways in which the RSNO can improve engagement with younger audiences. The privilege of receiving tickets to RSNO concerts has not only broadened my knowledge of repertoire but also enabled me to invite my friends to come along and experience the RSNO.Anna Heywood

We’re delighted to launch the second season of Notes From Scotland in September 2015. Young composers aged 12-18 are invited to write a short piece of music for any instrumental trio, quartet or quintet of their choice inspired by five dedicated locations across the country.

Open workshops will be held at these dedicated locations, led by composers and musicians to help you find out more about composing and the key features of the sites. The competition oers a unique opportunity for young writers to have their music developed with some of Scotland’s top professional composers. The competition closing date is April 30th 2016, but entries submitted before March of that year will be sent to one of the composers involved in the project for feedback. Entrants can then resubmit their pieces aer further development based on the expert notes! The overall winner will be announced in June 2016 during a concert performance where all five finalists will have their pieces performed and recorded. Check out the competition website for more details: notesfromscotland.co.uk

“This is a fantastic idea to engage young people in composition and to bring them together with existing composers and musicians to pass on their knowledge and skills. I’m sure it will be an invaluable experience for all concerned.”Craig Armstrong, Composer (Far From the Madding Crowd, The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge, Love Actually, Romeo + Juliet)
