Upgrading Information: Repository

If you are upgrading from an Insight® version prior to v9.0.x, you will need to upgrade to the latest v8.1.11 upgrade build prior to upgrading to this current release. If you are upgrading from any version of Insight, please note that Insight may require a new license key. You will need to obtain a new License Key from Customer Services. Once this is received, please perform a replace in order to retain your License Assignments. For more information on upgrading, please refer to the v9 upgrade document or contact Customer Services. Prior to upgrading, please make sure your Insight Object Repository is backed up (using your current Administration Application). This backup is essential for all types of installs, whether you are installing this version in parallel with an existing previous version or, alternatively, as a new stand alone installation. Any upgrade to 2012.2 requires a new repository to be created. All previous repositories from V9.0.x to Summer 2011 used Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. Insight 2012.2 now requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0. Therefore if upgrading from V9.0.x or higher you will need to backup your current production repository and then restore into a new repository created in 2012.2. This must be done in order to login to the 2012.2 version.

Download Microsoft .NET 4.0 (Full Client): http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=17851

Upgrading Information: Database Script Update

If you are upgrading your Insight version, you will need to follow a process by which a script is run over your Oracle Database. After running the script you will need to confirm all Profile Connections in Insight Administrator for 2012.2 are using the correct username and password. (The new database script allows a unique username to be used. Please check with your DBA to get the correct username credentials to use in the Data Connections). You will then have to run through the Profile so it can update with any new tables and views that 2012.2 uses. Please note: This should be done in conjunction with an InsightSoftware.com customer service representative who will provide you with the relevant script for Insight release 2012.2 to be run on your Oracle Database.

Recommendations for All Clients

It is highly recommended that clients switch to using the Built In Data Provider for their Data Connections. Issues have been reported with the Oracle Client Data Provider and ODBC Data Provider.

Dynamic Flex Field Utilization in Oracle E-Business Suite

If Dynamic Flex Fields are utilized in Oracle EBS, data may not display as expected within Insight Reporting. Please inform Customer Service if using Dynamic Flex Fields and inform them which tables and fields are utilized.

New Module

Cash Management (CM)

The Cash Management Module has been added to Insight Reporting and is designed to enable users to report over bank statement data to help analyze transactions and aid investigations for reconciliation. For each Oracle major version, e.g. 11i and R12, there are two templates: one covers bank statement headers to provide summary information while the second covers bank statement transactions. This brings the ease of Insight ad hoc queries and reporting to Cash Management. The new templates for this module include the following:

Bank Statement Lines: Provides reporting of bank statement lines. Often used as a drill down from Bank Statements. (Available for both EBS 11i and R12.)

Bank Statements: Provides reporting of bank statements and un-reconciled amounts at the statement level. Often used to drill down to Bank Statement Lines. (Available for both EBS 11i and R12.)

New Templates

Purchasing (POP)

PO Receipts: Template provides key information for receipts alongside the originating orders. (Available for both EBS 11i and R12.)

General Ledger (GL)

Payroll Costing: Provides access to payroll cost data imported from Oracle Payroll. Shows employee details for each GL code. (Available for both EBS 11i and R12.)

Subledger Accounting R12: Template provides reporting for the subledger accounting layer, drawing in additional information from key AP, AR, FA and PA module transactions. Common uses: complete list of subledger accounting transactions. There is a new side panel which allows you the ability to see detailed information from the subledger modules all on the same screen, eliminating the need to drill down.

Payments (AP)

Supplier Sites: Template provides supplier site information for linking from Suppliers Master File. (Available for both EBS 11i and R12.)

Templates for R12 There are many new templates that are the corresponding R12 versions of what already existed for 11i. The reason for creating version specific templates is so the R12 security features such as MOAC and Ledger set security can be applied to the R12 versions. Projects (PA)

Featured Enhancements

Designer Express (DX) is available for Oracle EBS! DX, a tool used to create custom templates, gives your organization immense flexibility by offering features including:

o Ability to access any table in your Oracle database connection (including custom tables or views in your Oracle database). The additional tables need to be mapped in Insight Administrator. Typically the tables need to be on the same database server; however, if necessary this can be achieved using linked servers and database views.

o Ability to handle different join types: many: many, many: one and one: one.

o Ability to use segment definitions such as the chart of account flex fields.

o Organization Security is applied automatically in DX reports for those tables that Insight already maps to in our Standard Templates.

o Ledger Security for DX reports must include a join to either GL_SETS_OF_BOOKS (11i) or GL_LEDGERS (R12).

o Within Template Designer, there is a button for Column Definitions, where column amounts and lookups are defined.

o DXD users have the ability to set column definitions as a report override or a customer default, the latter being applied to all DX reports.

o Also within the Column Definitions, DXD users have the ability to manually define a table or fixed list lookup in order provide filter validation, Query Assist support, and Code & Description feature support to end users.

o When joining to the same table multiple times, DXD users can re-label the tables so that the end user can easily distinguish them.

o If a Table or View does not have a primary (unique) key defined, one can be defined in the CustomerPk file located in the install directory. This file includes instructions so that Insight Administrators understand how to use it. (To edit this file, we recommend opening it with an XML Editor like Microsoft Visual Studio® in order to ensure the syntax is correct.)

o DXD users can choose which table in DX report is the 'first' table in the query to which all other tables are joined.

64 Bit: All Insight products are now available on a 64-bit platform.

o Enhanced 64-bit architecture increases memory usage. The 64-bit version allows user’s access to 8 TB whereas there is a 2 GB virtual memory limit with the 32-bit version of Insight. The higher memory capacity allowance is particularly helpful with large data sets.

o A single repository can accommodate both 32-bit and 64-bit Insight versions, so this means that users at one site can be using the different versions.

Single Sign-On (SSO) is now available with Insight. o Single sign-on authenticates Insight users without the users needing

to enter in their user ID or password. If all requirements are met, Insight users are not prompted for their username or password when starting Insight.

o In Insight Administrator, SSO must be turned on at the repository level as well as at the user level.

Sorting for Console: Insight Console users now have the ability to sort columns ascending or descending within inquiry results.

Display Options for Console: Insight Console users can now show/hide details and/or subtotals on any report.

Administration Enhancements

An additional option “Configure Additional Tables” is available on profiles in Insight Administrator, in order to add tables for templates supplied separately from the Insight release, and also tables for Designer Express reports.

In a database connection, you now have the ability to configure multiple servers for load balancing or failover configuration.

The below 2 Advanced Capabilities have been added so that if desired, users can be warned about updated reports and be able to convert old reports to new reports. o Don’t warn where an upgraded template exists – If unchecked, any report

where an upgraded template exists will be given a warning that the report will be upgraded. If checked, no warning is given and the report is upgraded once you SAVE AS with a new report name.

o Hide reports where an upgraded template exists – If unchecked, you will be able to see all reports, old and new (upgraded) reports. If option is checked, once all reports have been upgraded appropriately you can select to not see the old reports anymore.

General Enhancements

Performance enhancements were made so that many reports open more quickly.

Reports which return many thousands of rows display more quickly.

Reports containing calculations and subtotals run more quickly.

Switching between large reports is faster.

Ability to consolidate calculated label columns.

On the Home tab within Insight, there is now a toggle button called “Community Portal”, which allows users to choose whether the InsightSoftware.com Community Portal is displayed or not.

AR As Of Aged Debt Template - To assist users to indicate which departments, cost centers, etc are causing debt collection problems, a filter has been added to allow users to select one GL segment code at a time to see the level of debt caused by that department.

Ledger Sets Security is now honored in Insight for Oracle R12 customers. The existing locked Visual Assist for Ledger in all applicable templates is now unlocked and populated with all the ledgers included in the ledger set. NB If super users wish to report across ledgers beyond those in the ledger set they should switch off the security in the profile. Users who wish to report freely across all ledgers should have their own profile assigned with the security switched off.

Adoption of R12 security features including Ledger Set security and Multi Org Access Control (MOAC).

o This ensures users upgrading to Oracle EBS R12 can adopt the new security features and be sure that Insight will continue to work elegantly with them.

o The Multi Org Access Control has been implemented without the need for users to constantly change responsibilities as they drill through the modules.

o 11i customers will also see a more consistent approach to ORG and Ledger security through the modules

Ability to limit EBS responsibilities for Insight Console users o This is a facility to restrict Insight Console users to specified

responsibilities through Insight rather than allowing the users to log in with any of the responsibilities they may have assigned to them in Oracle.

o To restrict the responsibilities from which an Insight Console user can select, Insight now references an additional user-defined profile option for the responsibility in Oracle. This is an additional configuration of Oracle within System Administration. This feature will only work when the profile option is set up in Oracle. If the profile option does not exist in Oracle, Insight will work in the standard way.

o There is no additional set up in Insight. Insight will automatically reference the new profile option for all Insight Console users if it exists in the Oracle instance.

In addition to the list below, 2012.2 also includes all fixes up to and including 2012.1 SP3.

Administration/Technical Updates

Server configuration: Allow configuration of multiple servers in an Oracle connection setup for load-balancing or failover configuration.

User can run Insight Suite applications on a workstation which has Microsoft.NET Framework 4.5 installed.

Additional required indexes have been added to the Insight installation via the database script. These indexes help to speed up the underlying extraction of table and column information from the ERP system, thus speeding up the initialization queries run at login time.

General Updates

The Default Print Location has been changed to %UserDocuments% which is the logged-in user’s My Documents folder.

Added Inquiry Option for EBS integrated reports to allow child values to be available in calculations.

For Console Users: Now have the ability to limit the responsibilities available to select in Console by using the Profile option name "INSIGHT_CONSOLE_USER" defined in the EBS system to only those users that have Org and Segment security set up within Oracle.

In the Design tab of the ribbon, the checkbox previously named 'Totals' has been renamed to 'Subtotals'.

In the ribbon under the Home tab and in the Print Options section under the Report tab, the check box for 'Show Footnotes' was incorrectly displayed previously and is now no longer displaying.

The column NAME - Operating Unit has been added to all relevant templates in AR, AP, FA, PA and POP.

In the ribbon under the Design tab, for the Description dialog, only one radio button can be selected now as the 'Custom' and other options are mutually exclusive. Previously it was possible to select an option at the same time as 'Custom', which was incorrect.

After checking 'Fixed Sized' in the Column, Sorting and Grouping dialog, the column width would change to 1 previously and now it stays as 10 ( the default value).

Templates have now been modified to include SOB filter for Oracle 11i and LEDGER filter for Oracle R12 versions.

The Drop Down Hierarchy filter logic was corrected in order to respect nodes that contained two values (i.e. comma separated)
