Radiobus : a project that has already proved itself in Switzerland
/ 2 / Summer & Autumn University Namaste Programme
HEP Vaud has supported and de- veloped the project called Radio- bus for ten successful years, over an original mandate from the Con- federation in the media education study plan up until December 2006. From then on, it has been entirely supported by HEP Vaud / DGEO. It is based on education and integra- tion into radio media – sound tech- niques, training and collaborating with teachers, pupils and students. The Radiobox / Radiobus experi- ence in French-speaking Switzer- land demonstrates the extraordi- nary contribution to the training of pupils and students (oral fluency and presentation, interviews, re- ports) leading to the production of original programmes.
The Scolcast website, devel- oped by our media department, supported by HEP Vaud, welcomes and groups together hundreds of pupil and student productions from students. The network today is tremendously active. The radio- bus.fm website enables the broad- casting of programmes produced and pre-recorded by students di- rectly, according to the time of year, this being 24 / 7.
During Summer University, Indian B.Ed students and their teacher will visit the University of Teacher Education, State of Vaud, HEP in Lausanne as, in Autumn University, the students and their Swiss pro- fessor will visit the partner Univer- sity in India.
Expectations and activities about the Namaste project will be presented by speakers involved in training.
On two occasions the B.Ed stu- dents will have the opportunity of discovering the area of the Univer- sity of Teacher Education, State of Vaud / Indian University that will welcome them allowing discover- ies and cultural exchanges.
Different workshops will start on Tuesday with the aim of creating the radio programme that will be broadcasted on Friday of the sec- ond week.
The « radio language », anima- tion, chronicles and reports / in- terviews including the technical aspects will be part of the train- ing during workshops (recording
- transfer - mix - organisation of broadcasting).
During the second week, the students and their teachers will have the opportunity of a one day visit in a class of grade 9, 10 or 11 in a secondary school. On this occa- sion they will collaborate with the teacher and his / her pupils.
They will produce a small chron- icle which will be integrated into the programme of their Friday’s ra- dio broadcast.
During their stay, the students and their teacher will visit the Swiss professional radio broad- casting network.
The second Friday of their stay, students will broadcast their show on the internet - if possible on FM frequency - 6am to 12am. The show will be replayed through the same channels from noon to 6 p.m. the same day.
Analysis, assessment, discus- sions will be held on Friday after- noons in order to understand and identify the issues and the enrich- ment of the media contribution, their training, the possibility of continuing to supply a network by exchanging short programs on the « Namaste » platform online.
