New York based pianist/vocalist Gail Storm has been called “one of the finest female piano players on the musical scene today.” Drawing her musical influences from traditional performers such as Meade Lux Lewis, Bessie Smith, and Louis Jordan, Gail’s fans have also compared her to modern performers such as Diana Krall and Marcia Ball. Gail regularly performs in a wide variety of venues and has radio, film, and television appearances to her credit. Among her many performances are appearances at The Great South Bay Music Festival, The Bayard Cutting Arboretum, The American Music Festival, The Queens Museum, and The Hard Luck Cafe. For this performance Gail Storm will be joined by sax player Shenole Latimer and guitarist Joe Vicino. Join us for an evening of swinging jazz standards with some soothing ballads and sizzling boogie woogie thrown in as the Library presents The Gail Storm Quartet. New York based pianist/vocalist Gail Storm has been called “one of the finest female piano players on the musical scene today.” Drawing her musical influences from traditional performers such as Meade Lux Lewis, Bessie Smith, and Louis Jordan, Gail’s fans have also compared her to modern performers such as Diana Krall and Marcia Ball. Gail regularly performs in a wide variety of venues and has radio, film, and television appearances to her credit. Among her many performances are appearances at The Great South Bay Music Festival, The Bayard Cutting Arboretum, The American Music Festival, The Queens Museum, and The Hard Luck Cafe. For this performance Gail Storm will be joined by sax player Shenole Latimer and guitarist Joe Vicino. Snapshots in Time:Tales of Our Community (N) Tuesday, November 9, 7:30 p.m. Did you know that in 1656 Eaton’s Neck was pur-chased from Chief Asharoken for “two coats, four shirts, seven quarts of ‘licker,’ and eleven ounces of powder” or that in 1833 an East Northport man owned one of the most fabled trotters in American history? These are some of the fascinating stories compiled by long-time Northport resident Bob Little in his new book Snapshots in Time: Tales of Our Community. Mr. Little writes a monthly column for the Northport Historical Society that is published in the Village Connection. Join him for a glimpse of our community’s rich historical tapestry. Itinerary: Guided tour through Brooklyn, shopping at the “Zabar’s of Brighton Beach,” and an early dinner at Primorski. After dinner we visit Dyker Heights— made famous in the PBS documentary “Dyker Lights” and on TLC’s “Crazy Christmas Lights.”

Positive discipline means helping children learn self-control and problem solving. Discover new ways to correct and guide your child’s behavior. The Northport-East Northport Public Library is proud to support our community’s veterans and their families. The Library has partnered with the Northport VA Medical Center, developed a new online Topic Guide for Veterans (see back page), and dedicated a section of our community bulletin board to relevant veteran information. Our active Teen Services Department is also involved by organizing new teen volunteer opportunities to honor veterans. The Library is committed to continuing its outreach to our country’s military men and women.
