The Imperial Hotel is regarded by many as the ‘Grand Dame’ of Cork, and has been part of the very fabric and
life of the city for over 200 years. The Hotel has a rich history, having been designed by Thomas Deane in 1813,
it was initially used as commercial rooms for city merchants. In 1816 the building was extended to serve as a Hotel
and coach yard for the visiting business people, traders and merchants. Several famous figures have stayed in
the Hotel over the years including Fr. Mathew, The Temperance Priest, writers Sir. Walter Scott, William Makepeace
Thackeray, Charles Dickens and probably our most famous figure Michael Collins, who negotiated the Irish Free
State Treaty in 1921 and spent a night in room 115.

banquet and we are committed to using only the finest of ingredients, sourced locally and responsibly in Cork with
our menu’s reflecting and celebrating the wonderful renaissance of contemporary Irish cuisine.
The initial grandeur and opulence of our 19th Century marble foyer will set the tone for your magnificent day.
Our Ballroom is rich and classical in its décor with crystal chandeliers and luxurious fabrics and the vintage table
settings provide the perfect finishing touches to your wedding banquet. Our Ballroom can cater for up to 180
guests for the wedding meal, whilst our more intimate event rooms can also cater for smaller wedding parties. Our
Morgan & Plunkett Suites offer the perfect location for a Cork City civil ceremony venue, the soft subtle furnishings
provide an elegant but sophisticated, understated backdrop, ideal to host your civil ceremony.

The Hotel’s civil license means that you can both marry at The Imperial and celebrate your Wedding reception in our historic surroundings. If you wish to get married by civil ceremony in our Hotel, you should first contact the registrar of civil marriages regarding availability of dates

awaits you, as a rich marble surround and awe inspiring crystal chandelier embraces you, the start of the perfect canvas for your wedding photographs. Move to our Penthouse with its 180 degree wraparound balcony and let the mesmerizing views spanning
the length and breadth of Cork City be your perfect backdrop.
Enhance your wedding package to include the following:
• Your Toast Drinks/Corkage• Offer your guests a drink of choice from the bar, orders are charged at bar prices and can be added to your final bill.
• A glass of house prosecco for your toast at €6.00 per glass.• Corkage is offered a rate of €8.00 per bottle of wine/prosecco.
W E D D I N G T E R M S A N D C O N D I T I O N SPlease read these conditions carefully in order to avoid any misunderstandings regarding the
terms on which weddings are accepted.
Confirmation and Guest NumbersProvisional bookings can be held for up to 14 days after which time it is at the hotel’s discretion to release the date if confirmation of the date is not received. To confirm a wedding, a wedding contract is issued which must be signed by both partners and the original copy returned to the hotel. This along with your €1000 deposit will confirm your booking. We regret that deposits are
non-refundable and non-transferable in the event of a cancellation.
Minimum NumbersAll wedding packages are based on 80 adults; a supplement will apply for packages under 80 adults.
Please Note: The hotel reserves the right to cancel the date in the following circumstances:The hotel believes the booking might prejudice the reputation of the hotel, should guests attending the event, behave in any
way considered to be detrimental, offensive or contrary to normal expected standards of behaviour.The contract shall specify the anticipated number of guests for your wedding i.e. the agreed minimum and maximum number of
guests for the event.The contract minimum represents the minimum number of guests you guarantee will attend your wedding and the Hotel has
calculated its charges on this basis. The amount payable by the client will therefore be calculated according to the highest of (a) the contract minimum (b) the final number or (c) the number who actually attend the event.
PaymentThe final account must be settled upon departure. As per hotel policy a credit card will also be required to secure your booking. Two days prior to your wedding a preauthorisation for the balance will be held against this card and released upon departure.
Price VariationsIn the case of events beyond the hotels control (including but not limited to the increase in the standard rate of VAT), the hotel
reserves the right to vary the price specified in the contract to the extent which reflects such circumstances.
Cancellation by ClientIf a client wishes to cancel their wedding such cancellations must be advised to the Hotel in the first instance verbally, followed by
written notice of cancellation. Any postponements may be considered as a cancellation.In the unfortunate event of cancellation, the hotel will make every effort to re-sell the space. Should the hotel be unsuccessful in
reselling the space, cancellation charges will be incurred as follows:
• Cancellations received within 36-20 weeks of wedding date - 25% of services booked• Cancellations received within 19-12 weeks of wedding date - 50% of services booked• Cancellations received within 11-4 weeks of wedding date - 75% of services booked• Cancellations received within 4 weeks of wedding date - 100% of services booked
S U P P LY O F I N F O R M AT I O NBedrooms
*Penthouse accommodation is available to the couple on the night of their wedding subject to availability. A rooming list for all bedroom blocks must be submitted to the hotel at least 4 weeks prior to the event. Any rooms not covered by the rooming list will be subject to attrition and cancellation policies herein. The Hotel shall accept name changes to room reservations at any time prior
to guest arrival. The rooming list only applies where the couple are naming all rooms reserved direct themselves - If guests are contacting the hotel direct to book rooms the rooming list does not apply. Any amendments, including additions, cancellations, and
extensions to stay must be notified in writing by the Client and confirmed by the Hotel.
Please note we guarantee a maximum of 20 bedrooms at the wedding rate.
Food & BeverageMenus must be selected 8 weeks prior to the event, with final numbers given no later than 7 days before the event- this does not
affect your contract minimum. Children are more than welcome and menu items will be available to meet your requirements.Menu items may be subject to seasonal variation dependent on their availability.
Beverage
Wine vintages may vary from time to time due to supplier difficulties beyond our control.If a toast drink is required, this will be added to your invoice and will be charged on consumption.
All Food & Beverage consumed on the premises must be purchased from the hotel with the exception of the wedding cake and wine / champagne if corkage has been agreed.
Bar ExtensionThe cost of obtaining a bar extension on your behalf will be added to the final account. This is subject to application and approval. A request for same must be forwarded to the hotel 60 days prior to your event. The charge for this extension is €500.00 subject
to change with local licensing laws. The extension times are as follows:• Sunday - Bar closes at 11.00pm - Extension lasts until 12.30am
• Monday - Thursday - Bar closes at 11.30pm - Extension lasts until 1.00am• Friday - Saturday - Bar closes at 12.30am - Extension lasts until 2.00am
• All music must cease by 2.00am• Late bar is for hotel residents only and this is available to 03.30am
Health & Safety• The client must fully comply with the Hotels Health and Safety policy, a copy of which is available on request from the Hotel.
Licensing and Statutory Regulations• The Client shall maintain free access to fire exits at all times and shall obtain the prior approval of the Hotel before using any special effects equipment in the Hotel. The client shall observe the permitted hours, according to the current licensing laws.
CorkageNo wines, spirits, food or beverage may be brought into the Hotel for consumption on the Hotels premises unless the prior
consent of the Hotel has been made, for which a charge will be made.
DamageThe Client shall be responsible to the Hotel for any damages caused to the allocated rooms or furnishings, utensils and equipment therein or to the Hotel generally by an act, default or neglect of the client. Any damage caused to the premises or grounds by the
bridal party or their guests will be billed to the main account.
