Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization

• The Declaration and its follow-up were adopted by the International Labour Conference in June 2008

• Outcome of a long process of tripartite consultations– Governments, workers and employers

• Follows on from the conclusions and recommendations of the World Commission on the Social Dimension of

Globalization (2004)

• Purpose: To strengthen the ILO’s capacity to promote its Decent Work Agenda and forge an effective response to the growing challenges of globalization

• Signals major change towards balanced economic and social policies
