2.1 Food Charter Community Engagement

Food Charter will require a corresponding introductory letter to engage community members in the process. The letter should include:

- An Invitation to participate- Guidance for how their

organization may fitWe will also include an Activity page to help readers identify where their organization is currently meeting the charter and where they see related future actions. Will include an opportunity for participant to highlight the support needed for advancement.

Poverty Task Force will bring the Charter to the Healthy Communities Conference (May 14-15th) to collect opinions from the community including the health care sector

Food Charter formatting:- Possible formatting to

mimic 4 page Let’s Start a Conversation Booklet

- Group will review other charters for comparison

2.2 Food Charter Dissemination

Discussed the necessity of having 2 lists: 1. To evaluate and gain community perspective from open discussion on the Food Charter 2. For final release and adoption.

- Members will review lists of organizations and add any not currently included

3.1 Food Summit Participation and Theme

Discussed possible themes for 2014 Food Summit on June 5th. The food summit is traditionally held to encourage discussion and best practices for food bank leaders in Grey Bruce. Jill Umbach requested Poverty Task Force send a representative to speak on the 2014 Hunger Report as well as a soft launch and facilitated discussion of the Food Charter. Suggested Theme: Community Linkages, supporting schools and food bank leaders in connecting to local producers to strengthen existing and future program with local food.

- Hunger Report added to Business arising of next meeting for discussion, final report due to be release later this month

- Group members will consider availability to represent the Action Group at Food Summit

- Laura will speak to Inspection at Public Health to determine their involvement
