What is a healthy breakfast ?• Wholegrain cereal, reduced fat milk and fruit.• Wholegrain toast, spread and glass of reduced fat

milk

Children can eat up to a 1/3 of their daily food intake at school

It is important to pack nutritious food to help your child to• concentrate and learn• behave better

Kindy kids can be slow eaters and may want to play more than eat!

Keep it simple (not too much choice)Keep serves smallEnsure foods can be opened and eaten easily

Tip – environmental and budgetPack your own food using labelled reusable containersrather than buying small pre packaged snacks

Packing Kindy LunchboxesPack for• fruit break - fresh fruit or veggies only• recess - eg crackers and cheese OR pikelets and reduced fat milk popper (frozen)• lunch - eg chicken and salad sandwich OR grated cheese and carrot wrap• water to drink

Avoid packing a ‘treat’ food everyday

Tip Keep lunchboxes cold with icepacks or frozen water.
