OUR 10:45 RADIO BROADCAST on WNCO-AM 1340 is given in memory of Robert and Esther Bush by their children, Phil and Pat Bush and Sue and Roger Stevenson.

Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland, OH 44805 419-289-2126 www.trinityashland.org

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Maxine Leaman, who will turn 95 on Tuesday, June 16, and to Maxine Stafford, who will celebrate 91 years on Saturday, June 20!

To the Council and members of Trinity, Judy and I would like to thank you for the wonderful celebration of the partnership in the Gospel we have had. It could not have been any nicer and was deeply meaningful to our family.

Wednesday was a staff lunch. Fine gifts and deeply felt words were exchanged. We appreciate our staff so much!

Wednesday afternoon was the Woman's Bible Conversations. Again we celebrated!

On Saturday evening Pastor William's music was a fitting and exciting way to celebrate the partnership our two congregations have had these past decades. And the Reception Committee had a lovely event.

We are blessed with excellent music at Trinity and we had it Sunday. Brass choir, Sonrise Singers, a solo by Dee, the Senior choir...stirring worship!

We even had a gift from the Praise Worship team. We started that service with This Little Light of Mine, cer-tainly not a Praise Worship song, but my favorite....and they know it.

Then Sunday afternoon, where do we begin? The committee thought of everything, from the elegant food, to the music, to the slide presentation, to the placemats, to the scrapbook, to the naming of the Hall, to the gift for Greenbrier. Michelle, thank you for your kind words. And to Cheryl, we know you and Kathy spent hours gathering things together.

Then to all who came...you have to know how much we appreciate your coming. Now, of course, there are the cards to open. We will do that soon. It has been a memorable time together. Our sincere thanks!

In Christ,

Pastor and Judy Mitchell

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS will be this Sunday, June 14, immediately following the 8:30 service, and for 15 minutes before the 10:45 service. Please follow the signs to meet our volunteer in the staff offices across from the main doors into Jack’s Place.

Rose Garden Services Join us in a unique setting this summer as we gather in our Rose Garden to worship and praise God, who created it all! Garden Services will take place at 8:30 a.m. on June 28, July 12, and July 26, August 9.

Summer Sunday School for Kids: June 7—September 6

Age 2 – Pre K, Toddler Nursery VeggieConnections: Connecting to a powerful relationship with God is all about helping kids connect to a closer relationship with God. It is based on the Bible verse from James 4:8: “Come near to God and he will come near to you.” Each session includes a puppet skit from Bob and Larry, a clip from Veggie Tales, prayer, a Bible story and a craft that will all help them connect with God.

Kindergarten - Grade 4 (grades just completed), Assembly rooms A – D God is pleased when his children seek to know him. But who is he? What is he like? In Getting to Know God, kids learn seven names of God and what those names describe about his character. Fun, hands-on stories and activities teach children lessons about God that will last a lifetime! Tennis Racquets Needed Our Child Care is blessed with having Zack Sprunger working with the school aged children. He works with the kids in the afternoons and teaches tennis in the mornings at Brookside. The Child Care is going to give Zack time to teach tennis in the afternoons in Jack's Place using a special children's-height, portable net. They are in need of children’s and junior rac-quets (borrowed or donated). If you have any, please drop them off in the church office. Thank you!

Please join Expressions of Faith on Tuesday, June 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the Trinity Room to craft hand-made cards. Everyone is welcome, no matter your skill level--in fact, we would love to teach you! We will provide materials and supplies. If you have a favorite papercrafting tool or idea, please bring it to share. During the month of June we give our support from the sale of our cards to Trinity’s Summer Reading Program. If you have any questions about the group or purchasing our cards, please contact Wendy Shreffler in the church office or by e-

mail: [email protected].

Council Communication—6/10/15

The last two weeks at Trinity Lutheran Church have been full of celebration, moments to remember, and dra-matic changes - from our long-time leader to a new interim one. And as we begin this interim process, there will be many more challenges in the months ahead. But for one moment, let’s pause from the upcoming thoughts and reflect on the recent moments.

Wow! What a wonderful celebration! In the short space of the last six months, there have been so many chances to reminisce on the service and gifts that Pastor Mitchell and Judy have shared with us over the last 37 years here at Trinity Lutheran Church. And in one special weekend, we were able to witness the tremen-dous outpouring of thankfulness to Pastor Mitchell from our congregation, special guests, and the entire com-munity of Ashland, Ohio.

Council would like to thank everyone – there are far too many to list here individually – who helped plan and prepare this weekend celebration. From congregation members, to staff members alike – Thank you! This surely was a celebration that we hope Pastor Mitchell and Judy will treasure and remember and it was only possible with everyone’s involvement.

Please keep Pastor Mitchell and Judy in your prayers and continue to pray for Trinity as we, council and con-gregation together, move forward with the steps in front of us.

Trinity's 1st Vacation Bible School was held in 1955 at the "old" church at the corner of Church and 3rd Streets, under the direction of Pastor Kinsey. Up until that year, Trinity's children chose from any of the Ashland churches offering VBS. Attendance for the two weeks from June 20-July 1 included 134 children and 36 staff, including current Trinity members, Portia Burns, Cuda Ingmand, and Ann Miller. Trinity is proud to continue to welcome hundreds of children and adults, members and visitors, each year to experience God's love through a week of summer fun and learning.

At Sunday School, they were teaching how God created everything, including human beings. Little Johnny seemed especially intent when they told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam’s ribs. Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down as though he were ill, and she said, “Johnny, what is the matter?” Little Johnny responded, “I have a pain in my side. I think I’m going to have a wife.”
