“My journey started in Egypt. After high school, I was in a pharmacy school. Then we moved to the U.S. Hudson County Community College was my first choice for starting my college career. I took all kinds of science, chemistry and math courses, and English and speech courses. They were challenging, but I had wonderful professors. My advice to anyone is to come to Hudson County Community College because the classes are small, you get the best instructors, and the courses are transferable to every college.”

“Over the years I worked in management, entertainment, finance, and publishing. I was thinking about retiring and finding something new, but was laid off from a position I’d had for years. Under a Department of Labor initiative, I was able to come to HCCC, and was going to study web design. Instead, I chose to study something I love – cooking – and am working towards my A.A.S. in Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management. At 67 years of age, it’s all new, and it’s not easy, but HCCC is wonderful! The environment is really nice, and professors, chefs and students all work together.
