KUDOS Winners
University of Cincinnati Facilities Management News September 2017
"Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success."
--Henry Ford
Nominations for the KUDOS program began in April 2017. The Commu-nication and Engagement Committee received dozens of submissions and picked our first quarter winners.
Sarah Ball, Custodial Worker was recognized for her safety efforts, in prevent-ing what could have been a serious disaster in the Arlitt Center by finding the source of something burning.
Adam Gagnon, Groundskeeper 2 was nominated for his efficiency for the swift cleanup and removal of a departed deer before stu-dents arrived on campus to see the incident.
Jackie Huber, Housekeeping Supervisor was surprised to find an envelope of cash, but with her help, it was returned to its rightful owner. She was recognized for her accountability & respect.
Shawn Jackson, Laborer was nominated four times by four differ-ent areas for his awesome attitude and his efficient & professional customer service.
These four selected winners were treated to a delicious lunch at the Montgomery Inn Boat House with Joe Harrell. If you see these folks on campus, be sure to congratulate them for upholding FM Values!
Congratulations Winners
Manager Profile
What is your role at UC?
Associate Director of Building Services responsible for Athletics, Hous-
ing and Campus Services Housekeeping.
How many long have you worked at UC?
A month and a half.
What is the best part of your job?
Coaching and helping supervisors and front line staff to be better at their
jobs and help them get to where they want to be.
What was your road to UC?
My road to UC started when I was recruited to play for the Men’s Soccer
team as well as earn my bachelor’s degree in business in the early
2000’s. After graduating, and several years in Facilities Management, I
was able to find my way back to UC. Overall, I think it was my ability to
successfully lead teams, work hard, and follow through with university
objectives at my previous position that gave me the opportunity to come
back to UC and continue advancing in my career and at the same time
give back to the institution that I once attended as a student.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to hang out with my wife and kids. I go to my son’s sporting events.
I enjoy fishing and surfing when at the ocean. I also coach soccer.

Good news for employees who wear glasses!
Effective Jan. 1, 2018, UC will offer a ‘materials only’
vision insurance plan to its benefits-eligible employ-
ees through VSP. The plan provides employees and their covered dependents with
vision-care materials such as eye glasses and contact lenses. Routine eye exams
through an Anthem network provider will still be covered under our Anthem Medical
Plans. If you wear glasses or contacts, consider enrolling in UC’s VSP vision plan dur-
ing the November 2017 annual enrollment.
