FOR SCHOOLS &
COLLEGES
The Careers & Enterprise Company is an employer-led organisation set up to
inspire and prepare young people for the fast-changing world of work. Its role
is to take an umbrella view of the landscape of careers and enterprise,
supporting the programme coverage nationally.
We are building a Berkshire-wide network of Enterprise Advisers - high calibre
volunteers with experience of employment or self-employment. Together
with our Enterprise Co-ordinator, Allison Giles, they will guide you through the
range of possible employer interactions and help you create a strategy for
careers, enterprise and employer engagement.
Our Enterprise Co-ordinator will meet with your senior leadership team and
work through a needs assessment to understand your current careers and
enterprise strategy. This will help identify any gaps and priority areas for
action that we can support you with.
An Enterprise Adviser will then be matched with your institution, to enhance
your existing activity and increase your engagement with local employers.
Commitment
Enterprise Advisers will support a
school or college for at least one
academic year, committing to a
minimum of one day per month.
Credibility
Enterprise Advisers will have sound
knowledge and understanding of the
needs of the local labour market.
Improve links
The Enterprise Adviser will bring and
share established contacts from the
business community.
Added Value
Enterprise Advisers will work
alongside existing providers, such as
the EBPs and National Careers
Service.
Complementary
Enterprise Advisers’ support will be
complementary to any existing, local
activities.
Support
Our Enterprise Co-ordinator sits at the
heart of a network of local business
leaders. They will harness the
relationship between you and your
Enterprise Adviser.
Inspiration
Your students will be more motivated
to fulfil their potential and consider a
broad range of options and careers.
Be part of a network
Attend regular networking meetings,
share best practices, keep up to date
with labour market intelligence.
