Het werkelijk toevoegen van waarde aan de
business blijft de nummer één zorg van veel
ICT managers. De Masterclass Business ICT
Alignment geeft een overzicht van
ontwikkelingen en ‘best practices’ die op dit
vlak ontstaan zijn. Naast theorie biedt de
masterclass ook toepassing van de inzichten in
de werkomgeving van de deelnemer, waardoor
de opgedane kennis verder aan betekenis wint.
De Masterclass maakt deel uit van de Master of
Informatics studie aan Hogeschool Utrecht.
Voor wie?
De masterclass is ideaal voor wie zich wil
verdiepen in de actuele inzichten rondom
Business ICT Alignment en de toegevoegde
waarde van ICT, maar (nog) geen volledige
masteropleiding wil volgen.
Onderwijsprogramma
De masterclass bestaat uit een viertal modules:
• Business ICT Alignment theory and practice
• ICT Planning & Control
• Information Economics
• Organization of the Information Function
Business ICT Alignment theory and practice
In deze module leert de verschillende
benaderingen van Business ICT Alignment.
Naast onderbouwde inzichten krijgt u
praktische handvatten aangereikt waarmee de
alignment in uw organisatie kan worden
verbeterd. Centraal in de module staat het
model van de Amerikaanse hoogleraar Jerry
Luftman, waarin alignment multidisciplinair
wordt benaderd.
U past uw kennis toe in een volwassenheids-
meting binnen uw organisatie en oefent uw
inzicht in een Business ICT Alignment
simulatiegame.
Uw docent is drs. A.J.Gilbert Silvius MBA,
lector Business, ICT en Innovatie aan
Hogeschool Utrecht. Gilbert is auteur van vele
artikelen over Business ICT Alignment.
ICT Planning & Control
In deze module wordt de ‘planning & control
cycle’ voor het productiemiddel ICT
doorgenomen. Aan de orde komen o.a.
informatieplanning en portfolio management. U
leert ICT als bedrijfsmiddel beter af te
stemmen op de organisatiecontext.
Uw docent is Ronald van Rossum MBA,
directeur van Van Aetsveld BV.
Information Economics
Deze module behandelt de financiële
aspecten van ICT. Aan de orde komen o.a.
budgettering, verschillenanalyse, ICT in de
jaarrekening, investeringsselectie en
business case management. Concepten als
Total Cost of Ownership, Return on
Investment, Net Present Value, Real Option
Valuation en Benefits logic worden
toegelicht en toegepast in opdrachten in de
eigen organisatie.

lector aan Hogeschool Utrecht.
Organization of the Information Function
In deze module worden de modellen en
frameworks voor de organisatorische
inrichting van de organisatie van de
informatie en ICT functies in organisaties
behandeld. O.a. de beheerconcepten ASL
en BiSL worden toegelicht. Ook wordt
aandacht besteed aan de redenen voor en
overwegingen bij outsourcing.
Uw docent is Frank van Outvorst, senior
consultant bij Capgemini en auteur van
diverse boeken over ASL en BiSL.
Toetsing
De in de modules opgedane competentie
wordt getoetst aan de hand van opdrachten
en individuele tentamens. De toetsing
garandeert het master-niveau van de studie.
Na de masterclass
Nadat u de masterclass succesvol heeft
afgerond ontvangt u een certificaat. Dit
certificaat levert u vrijstellingen op voor deze
modulen in de Master of Informatics, indien u
besluit tóch de gehele masteropleiding te
gaan volgen.

In short
The number one concern of many IT managers
remains to be adding real value to the
business. The master class Business ICT
Alignment provides an overview of trends and
‘best practices’ in this area. Besides, the theory
the master class also gains insight into the
working environment of the participant allowing
the knowledge to gain further significance. The
master class is part of the programme Master
of Informatics at Hogeschool Utrecht.
For whom?
The master class is ideal for those who wish to
find out more about the current insight around
Business ICT Alignment and the value of ICT,
but who do not want to follow the entire master
programme jet.
Programme
De master class consists out of the following
four modules:
• Business ICT Alignment theory and practice
• ICT Planning & Control
• Information Economics
• Organization of the Information Function
Business ICT Alignment theory and practice
In this module students learn the theories, models and insights on the alignment of business and ICT and the business governance of ICT. Aligning business and ICT is for many organizations and executives still one of their top-concerns. It is in fact this concern that provides an important ground for the Master of Informatics program. The BIAG course provides an overview of the main concepts and understandings in business ICT alignment and governance and thereby offers a foundation for the relevance, and a context, of all courses in the program.
This module is taught by drs. A.J.Gilbert
Silvius MBA, lector Business ICT and
Innovation at Hogeschool Utrecht. Gilbert is
auteur of many articles about Business ICT
Alignment.
ICT Planning & Control
This module focuses on insights and models in the field of business & ICT alignment, including the Strategic Alignment Framework, COBIT and methods for information planning. The goal of these models is to arrange a controlled planning-and-control cycle for the provision of information in an organization. Students therefore learn how to compose an information and/or automation plan and policy. They also learn how to couple ICT strategies to company objectives. This module is taught by Ronald van Rossum MBA, director of Van Aetsveld BV.
Information Economics
In order to ‘bridge the gap’ between
business and ICT the MoI has to understand
the financial aspects of the company and
needs to be able to understand the financial
impact of ICT and his actions. In this
module, students learn the financial
considerations regarding ICT exploitation
and investments. The module covers various
aspects of cost and revenue, decision-
calculation techniques, investment
evaluation and business cases.

Organization of the Information Function
In this module, students learn about the
current concepts and process models for
arranging the ICT function in an
organization. Amongst the intellectual
frameworks, that are considered in this
module, are ITIL, ASL and BISL. The course
also covers the effect of sourcing decisions
on the implementation of these frameworks
and elaborates on the demand management
aspect of this..
This module is taught by Frank van
Outvorst, senior consultant by Capgemini
and author in diverse books about ASL en
BiSL.
After the master class
After you have successfully completed the
master class you will receive a certificate.
This certificate gives you, besides proof of
completion of the master class, exemptions
for these modules in the Master of
Informatics, if you decide to follow the entire
master programme.
