Pakistan is ranked at 145 out of 187 countries (HDI 2011) and suffers from high level of poverty and vulnerability with a wide gap in income distribution between the rich and poor. Access to education and quality education remains a challenge for the poorest quantile groups particularly amongst girls in Pakistan. In rural areas 71% children, usually from poor families, are enrolled in government schools (ASER 2010) . the number, location of schools and teachers needed is far less than what is required at all levels of the systems.
In partnership with Dubai Careas, Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi is implementing in flood affected areas a holistic program to improve education of girls and disadvantaged children titled: "CHILDREN, ESPECIALLY GIRLS AGED 2-12 HAVE ACCESS TO QUALITY EDUCATION WITH IMPROVED INFRASTRUCTURE AND SAFE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT". it covers three districts of South Punjab and one district of Sindh.
Sanjha Vehra / Panjhu Vehro is the title of ECD day care centre coined by local mothers and teachers
