1 ) Make flashcards of the vocabulary for Vocab list 1. (15 mins)You will recognise most of this vocabulary from years 7 and 8.

2) Learn and test yourself with the flash cards or using the look, say, cover, write, check method (see on first page). (15 mins)

3) Look at the picture of the family in the park. Brainstorm in 2 minutes as many words in Spanish to describe them as you can. (2mins)

4) Use this vocabulary to write 8 sentences about them using the sentence starter “En la foto hay...” (In the picture there is...) (13 mins)

5) -read thorough the whole text once (3 mins) - read the text again and highlight the words that you know, remember that if a word starts with a capital letter it is the name of a person or place! (3 mins) - read the text a third time and find the meanings for a maximum of 10 of the words you do not know in the vocabulary list. (9 mins)

6) answer the questions about the text (10 mins)

7) Translate Shakira’s text and send it to me (Miss Gomez) or Mr Jeffery and we’ll mark it 😊 (20 min)

Use Quizlet to revise flashcards, practice writing and spelling Use Conjugemos to practice your verbs! There are plenty of games and flashcards. There are lots of great series on Netflix. For Spanish I recommend: Zipi and Zape y

la Isla del Capitan (film), Boca juniors confidential (if you like football) , Nailed it (if you like contestant shows) and Poco yo (if you are feeling like you want to go back to nursery). Use the subtitles feature on the bottom right and you can use the Netflix language extension.

Tips for learning vocabulary

o Do a few minutes each day, rather than all of the learning in one day.

o Use LOOK, COVER, WRITE, CHECK or LOOK, COVER, SAY, CHECK to help you.

o You could also get someone to test you.

o You could highlight the words that you find really difficult and practice these more.

o You could write hard words on “post it notes” and stick them around your room.

o Keep going back over old words and checking that you still know them.
