Core Areas of Learning: English This term, we will be focusing on the theme, ‘All about me!’ which will allow pupils to write about topics of personal interest. These pieces will incorporate both fiction and non-fiction features which will include year 6 punctuation, challenging vocabulary and extended sentence structure for impact. Maths For the first half term, we will focus on revision of all maths topics in preparation for our SATs. During the second half term, we will work on maths projects that will incorporate all of the maths topics learnt this year in real life contexts. In addition, we will investigate the links between mathematics and Islamic art. Science This term we will investigate the topic, ‘Animals including humans’. We will analyse the functions of the human body, the importance of diet and exercise and the effects of various substances on the body. Computing This half term, we will be looking at coding using the program, ‘Scratch’. Class Notices:Home learning:Homework will be set each week and take the form of revision of topics taught during the week. Children are expected to use My Mini Maths, Times Tables Rock stars and Spelling Shed.

Reading:As an expectation in Year Six we expect 15 minutes of reading each night from an age-appropriate text. Children should be reading at home 8-10 times each week. They will need to complete their reading journal each evening and return it to school the following day. Please continue to read with your child and ask them questions to check their understanding.

PE: Children are expected to bring their PE kit to school each day.

Attendance:Children should be in school every day and arrive on time.  Please ensure that you communicate reasons for absence to the school office.
