SewingSew using a 1/4" seam and right sides together unless noted otherwise. Press seams in the direction of the arrows.

Center Block

1. To the center block, place one 10-1/2" Pink Dragonflies square on the top left corner of one 20-1/2" Cream Flowers square, right sides together. Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 1). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 2). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle 1/4" away from the sewn seam.2. Follow Figure 3 for the seam direction to add a 10-1/2" Pink Dragonflies square to each of the remaining corners of the 20-1/2" Cream Flowers square to make one 20-1/2" center block (Fig. 4). 3. Sew one 2-1/2" x 20-1/2" Green Tonal strip to each side of the center block. Sew one 2-1/2" x 24-1/2" Green Tonal strip to the top and bottom of the center block to complete the 24-1/2" square center block (Fig. 5).

4. Place one 4-7/8" Cream Tiles square on top of one 4-7/8" Teal Spirals square, right side together. Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square. Sew 1/4" away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 6). Cut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 7) to make two 4-1/2" half-square triangles (Fig. 8). Repeat to make thirty-two 4-1/2" half-square triangles.5. Refer to Figure 9 to sew together four half-square triangles to make one 8-1/2" x 8-1/2" pinwheel block.6. Sew one pinwheel block to the top and bottom of one 8-1/2" Pink Flowers square to make one side border (Fig. 10). Repeat to make a second side border.7. Sew together three 8-1/2" Pink Flowers blocks and two pinwheel blocks, alternating them to make the top border (Fig. 11). Repeat to make the bottom border.

8. Sew the side borders to the 24-1/2" center block. Sew the top and bottom borders to the 24-1/2" center block (Fig. 12).9. Sew one 1-1/2" x 40-1/2" Green Tonal strip to each side of the center block. Sew one 1-1/2" x 42-1/2" Green Tonal strip to the top and bottom of the center block to make the 42-1/2" quilt top (Fig. 13).

9-patch Blocks and Borders

10. Sew one 2-1/2" x 42" Cream Tonal strip to each side of one 2-1/2" x 42" Pink Spirals strip to make a strip set (Fig. 14). Cross-cut the strip set into sixteen 2-1/2" units for the top and bottom block rows (Fig. 15).11. Sew one 2-1/2" x 42" Pink Spirals strip to each side of one 2-1/2" x 42" Cream Tonal strip to make a strip set (Fig. 16). Cross-cut the strip set into eight 2-1/2" units for the middle block rows (Fig. 17).

12. Sew together one top, middle and bottom row to make one 6-1/2" pink 9-patch block (Fig 18). Repeat to make eight pink 9-patch blocks.13. Sew one 2-1/2" x 42" Cream Tonal strip to each side of one 2-1/2" x 42" Teal Spirals strip to make a strip set (Fig. 19). Cross-cut the strip set into sixteen 2-1/2" units for the top and bottom block rows (Fig. 20).14. Sew one 2-1/2" x 42" Teal Spirals strip to each side of one 2-1/2" x 42" Cream Tonal strip to make a strip set (Fig. 21). Cross-cut the strip set into eight 2-1/2" units for the middle block rows (Fig. 22).15. Sew together one top, middle and bottom row to make one 6-1/2" teal 9-patch block (Fig 23). Repeat to make eight teal 9-patch blocks.

16. Follow Figure 24 to sew together two 6-1/2" Blue Dragonflies, two 6-1/2" Cream Flowers, two teal 9-patch blocks and one pink 9-patch block to make one side border. Repeat to make the second side border.

17. Follow Figure 25 to sew together two 6-1/2" Blue Dragonflies, two 6-1/2" Cream Flowers, two teal 9-patch blocks and three pink 9-patch blocks to make the top border. Repeat to make the bottom border.

Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to Figure 26 while assembling)

18. Sew one 9-patch side border to each side the quilt top. Sew the top and bottom 9-patch borders to the quilt top to complete the 54-1/2" square quilt top.19. Sew one 2-1/2" x 54-1/2" Black Tonal strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew one 2-1/2" x 58-1/2" Black Tonal strip to the top and bottom of the quilt top. 20. Sew one 4-1/2" x 58-1/2" Lime Dragonflies strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew one 4-1/2" x 66-1/2" Lime Dragonflies strip to the top and bottom of the quilt top.

Layering, Backing and Quilting

21. Press the quilt top and backing well. Layer backing (wrong side up), batting, pressed quilt top (right side up), and baste. Quilt as desired and trim excess batting and backing when quilting is complete.

Binding

22. Cut the ends of the seven binding strips at a 45-degree angle and sew end to end to make one continuous piece of binding. Fold in half lengthwise and press wrong sides together. Sew the binding to the front of the quilt, raw edges together. Turn the folded edge to the back, and hand stitch in place.
