Completion Flow Control

Flow Control is the ability to regulate orprevent the flow of fluids or gases in thewellbore, and flow controls are the devicesused to perform those functions. Flowcontrol is required throughout the life of thewell:

The flow control process is often under-estimated, and flow control designfrequently under-engineered, leading tounnecessarily costly intervention operations.Weatherford Completion Services offers avery wide range of flow control productsbacked by the operational expertisenecessary to ensure that flow controlselection reflects the needs of the wellthroughout its life cycle, and not just atcompletion time.

Many flow controls are barriers to flow inthe wellbore. They can be either bi-directional or uni-directional and in somecases both. Flow control barriers are usedfor:

Under-balanced completionWell suspensionZone pluggingSafe removal of XMAS trees or BOP'sRecovery of upper completions duringworkover

Flow control barriers must be designed towithstand all potential hazards.

At the initial completionDuring the producing /injection lifeof the wellWhenever wellbore intervention isrequiredAt workover time

Barriers

Flow Regulation

Pressure Testing

Flow controls are used to regulate orprevent flow, during the operational life ofthe well, often for very long periods. Theseinclude:

Zone isolationReducing or increasing production orinjection flowSafety systems safety valves or injectionvalvesFluid loss control

Flow regulation devices require the twinvirtues of long term reliability and simplicityof operation.

Flow controls are used for all wellborepressure testing to:

Confirm the integrity of completion andits componentsConfirm the integrity of XMAS TreesSet packers

Weatherford Flow Control StructureWeatherford divides the Flow Controlproduct line in the following groups:

Interventionless CompletionProducts

Slickplug

Weatherford Interventionless CompletionProducts system is a grouping of tools whichperform Flow Control functions (barriers, fluid loss control, packer setting) without theneed for a specific intervention in the wellbore on wireline, coil tubing or othermeans.

The Weatherford Slickplug is a retrievablebridge plug deployed and retrieved onslickline, or other intervention means thatdo not require explosive or pyrotechnicsetting tools.

Weatherford Flow Control Structure

Sliding sleeves

Standard flow controls

Uniset flow controls

Weatherford Sliding sleeves are tubingmounted devices which regulate flow fromor into individual producing zones, or tocontrol communication between the tubingand the annulus.

Weatherford Standard Flow Controlscomprise a wide range of industry standardflow control devices, including nipples, lockmandrels, plugs, standing valves and everyaccessory for those items. Standard FlowControls are the appropriate choice forconventional, economical, flow controlrequirements.

The Weatherford Uniset System is a highperformance, high pressure, premium flowcontrol system to suit exacting completionarchitecture.
