We are also delighted to introduce a refreshing addition to the Floris for Home range, with the new ‘Bergamot & Geranium’ Special Edition Scented Candle and Room Fragrance, to enhance your surroundings at home or whilst away.

In those early days Juan Floris, and his wife Elizabeth, used to blend each fragrance in the cellars below 89 Jermyn Street for customers on an individual basis, their formulae carefully recorded so further supplies could be made.

Celebrating the centuries-old tradition of “Hanami” in Japan, when friends and family would picnic under sakura trees to relax and appreciate the beautiful view of the cherry blossom ‘clouds’, the delicate scent of which lingers in the breeze. Under these sakura trees, at cheerful feasts, folk of all backgrounds would lunch and drink sake whilst taking in the view of the beautiful flowers surrounding them.

A soft, feminine floral fruity fragrance with a crisp fresh top note of bergamot, orange and pink peppercorn that leads to the delicate floral notes of cherry blossom, osmanthus, peony and rose enriched with a touch of ripe cherries on a bed of musks and sandalwood.

The mellow early hours of a Chelsea studio in London, circa 1967, a time of burgeoning creative energy. Patchouli draws out the raw sensuality laying it sedately against a darkly elegant backdrop.

The soft, creamy, coconut milk top note accord is set to contrast with the dark and mysterious character of the patchouli. Touches of iris, rose and ylang ylang lift the heart whilst cedarwood emboldens the woody theme. Amber, vanilla and resins continue the dark theme through to the base.

In April 1926 a perfume was created at 89 Jermyn Street, London by the Floris family to celebrate the birth of King George V’s first grandchild, Elizabeth. The fragrance was named ‘Royal Arms’. In June 1953 Great Britain saw the coronation of this grandchild as Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II took her place at the throne.

As sole Perfumers By Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II, 2012 presented Floris with the opportunity to mark a momentous occasion.

To celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Floris has brought to light the original ‘Royal Arms’ recipe and created an adaptation of this special perfume, which has then been hand poured into just six antique bottles.

The heart of this beautifully poised floral fragrance comes from the queen of flowers, the rose. Rose essence is balanced in a bouquet of jasmine, iris with ylang ylang and hints of sweet violet. Bergamot and lemon lift the heart of the perfume which is warmed by a nostalgic

powdery base of amber, musk, patchouli and vanilla.

Perfume is the ultimate expression of a fragrance. Precious blended oils impart the most intimate character of the fragrance to the wearer.

The crystal bottle, dating back to the early 1900s is a classic and rare dressing table piece, each one of very few remaining in the Floris collection. The bottle is dressed simply with a 50 point white diamond, hand set by a London jeweller. Suspended on a delicate chain, the 18 carat solid gold decoration is finished with a hallmarked charm engraved

‘Royal Arms’.

The strikingly beautiful crimson red amaryllis is a f lower that legend has it took the colour of its deep velvety petals from the blood of a young nymph’s heart in a romantic story of unrequited love. The f lower has come to symbolise pride, determination and radiant beauty and takes its name from the Greek word ‘to sparkle’.

First appearing in the Floris repertoire in 1860, a contemporary adaptation of this perfume was created and introduced to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen.

Originally created in 1890 for Russia’s Grand Duke Orloff and named ‘Orloff Special’, Special No 127 was later introduced into the Floris range having been renamed after the page in the ‘Specials’ formula book in which the recipe was recorded. The fragrance has become a favourite with many over the years – both men and women. Devoted followers included Eva Peron & Winston Churchill.

A refreshing citrus blend of bergamot and orange with petitgrain introduce the heart of neroli, lavender and geranium in this f loral cologne. Patchouli and musk add depth and character.

Rose Geranium was first introduced by Floris in 1890 when pink geranium was added to the existing Geranium fragrance. Aficianodos have included Marilyn Monroe and Isabella Blow.

Stephanotis dates back to the earlier days of Floris. Originally composed in 1796 by James Floris, son of founder Juan Famenias Floris, it was conceived as a result of the many society weddings taking place in the local area of St. James. Traditionally f lowers used in the bridal bouquet were assigned meanings. Stephanotis signifies happiness in marriage.

Exhilarating notes of orange blossom enlivened with the soft spiciness of carnation contrasted with a green lily of the valley accord are evocative of the intensely fragrant stephanotis blossom. The f loral heart, sustained by jasmine and coriander, leads to the base notes of sandalwood and musk.

A successful wet shave is both a ritual and an art. By following these instructions a smooth, close and satisfying shave can be achieved.

Thoroughly wash the face with hot water to cleanse the skin and soften the beard.

Dip a good quality shaving brush in hot water, shake off excess and using Floris shaving soap or cream work up a lather over the areas of the face and neck to be shaved. The process of lathering with hot water will further soften the skin and also set up the beard prior to shaving.

Shave in the direction of the beard, starting below the sideburns and working down each side of the face towards the chin, finishing at the neck. Let the razor glide over the skin, without applying too much pressure. For a closer shave, re-lather and shave across or against the beard. Always use a sharp blade as a worn blade will irritate the skin.

Finish by rinsing off with cold water to close the pores and apply aftershave or alcohol free aftershave balm.

Rinse the brush gently but thoroughly in clean water, f lick off the excess water and place the brush in a stand with the hair pointing down. If you do not have a stand, leave the brush pointing up rather than horizontal, so that air can get to all the hairs and dry the brush naturally.
