Establishing Operations Zones
SAR is an area-specific specialty. Type of area to be search dictates the
kind and type of resource to be utilized. Considering Operations Zones that
might be affected can help with determining the kind, type and number of resources that might be pre-deployed or alerted for deployment.
Zone “A” – Impact Area
Generally areas with high-density population and buildings of light, medium and heavy (reinforced)
construction
Zone A
Zone “B” – Interface Area
Generally the rural interface and intermix.
Single family residential areas with light and medium density buildings.
Zone B
Zone “C” – Inland Area
Generally sparsely populate rural areas with residential structures
(mobile homes and light buildings)
Zone C
Single Resource
“The minimum number of personnel and equipment that can be assigned to
a task”
Zone “A” Deployment
