Dear Daddy “Dear Daddy, you were my first love. The one that taught me my value. The one who gave me courage and faith. Yours were the shoulders that I stood on to see above the crowd to reach high to stretch without the fear of falling; because of you I was able to step out into the world; to blaze trails; to make mistakes; to see success and to become whatever I wanted to be. No matter what went wrong; one phone call to you would set everything right again. When I felt like the world didn’t love me; when I felt like there was nothing left for me; your words always carried me higher than I thought I could go. You were my father and my friend, my life will forever blessed simply because you loved me. You allowed me to be me without explanation or judgement. I will always be your baby girl and I will loved you always.” Forever With Love ~ Charolyn B Buie Funeral Home 543 Vass Road • Raeford, NC 28376 (910) 875-3700 • www.buiesfuneralhome.com “We Strive To Deserve Your Confidence” Printed by CopyWright Printing Company Aberdeen, NC (910) 944-1360 • Raeford, NC - (910) 875-6003 Home Going Service For Charles Ronald McKoy Sunrise Sunset July 3, 1946 December 6, 2017 Tuesday, December 12, 2017 • 2:00 PM BUIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL Raeford, North Carolina Pastor Willie J. The Obituary

Charles Ronald McKoy, the son of H. E. Edwards and the late Martha McKoy, was born on July 3, 1946 in Hoke County, NC. He passed away at his home on December 6, 2017 in Wagram, NC. Charles as a child resided in Raeford, NC and attended Upchurch High School. He graduated from North Carolina A & T with a Bachelor Degree in History and received a Master Degree in Education from North Carolina Central University. After receiving his secondary education, Charles began his career working for the state of NC as a Child Support Investigator. He was also a public speaker and mentor for teenagers and young adults. He began dating the love of his life, Annie Carolyn Patterson, who would soon become Carolyn Patterson McKoy. Five years after this joyful union, Carolyn gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Charolyn Erica McKoy, which was the beginning of a beautiful chapter for the McKoy family tree. As a young man, Charles joined Spring Branch Missionary Baptist Church and later became a faithful member of Freedom East Presbyterian Church of Raeford, NC until he departed this life. Charles was a man of great accomplishments. In his earlier years, he was a star football player for Upchurch High School. In his career with the state of NC, he received the governor’s award for Best Child Support Investigator. He was also a Little League umpire and a football coach for Scotland County Parks and Recreation. In his later years, Charles became one of the few black business owners in Raeford, NC where he was the proud owner of C Mac Seafood. Charles was truly a family man. He took pride in being a father to his daughter, Charolyn. His hobbies included tending to his vegetables garden, cooking, fishing and playing cards with his buddies. Charles was known in the community as a man of stature. He was a devoted husband and father and was greatly loved by many family and friends. He was mostly known for his bright smile that could easily fill a room. He was a man of God that believed in discipleship, fellowship and love. He was a man that dishonored confusion, but strongly believed in unity and loyalty. He was known for uplifting the community, lending a helpful hand to those in need and giving honest advice. Although his spirit has gone to a better place where he will have no more worries of this world, his sweet spirit remains and will never be forgotten. Charles leaves to cherish his loving memories: his daughter, Charolyn of Charlotte, NC; his father, H. E. Edwards of Wagram, NC; a loving aunt, Annie Gales of Laurinburg, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

God’s Garden God looked around His garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. .He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’s garden is surely beautiful. He always takes the best. He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb, so He closed your weary eyelids and whispered “Peace be thine”. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you the day God called you home.

psalms 55 55: 1 - Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication. 2 - Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise; 3 - Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me. 4 - My heart is sore pained within in: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me. 5 - Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me. 6 - And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! For then would I fly away, and be at rest. 7 - Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah. 8 - I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest. 9 - Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city. 10 - Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are the midst of it. 11 - Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets. 12 - For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him. 13 - But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquainted. 14 - We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company. 15 - Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick unto hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them. 16 - As for me I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me. 17 - Evening and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall heart my voice. 18 - He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me. 19 - God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God. 20 - He hath put forth his hands against such as ne at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant. 21 - The word of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. 22 - Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. 23 - But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.

psalms 56 56: 1 - Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up: he fighting daily oppresseth me. 2 - Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High. 3 - What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. 4 - In God I will praise His word, in god I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. 5 - Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil. 6 - They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul. 7 - Shall they escape by iniquity? In thine anger cast down the people, O God. 8 - Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? 9 - When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me. 10 - In God will I praise his word: in the Lord will I praise his word. 11 - In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me. 12 - Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee. 13 - For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?
