IF YOU LOVE THE IDEA OF CHALLENGING WORK WITH AN EXCITING AND FLEXIBLE LIFESTYLE, THIS COURSE IS FOR YOU…
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTSFOR A FLIGHT ATTENDANT
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
• At least 18 years old for Australian airlines and 20-21 years for most international carriers
• Height restrictions – please enquire to determine if they apply in your case
• Fit and healthy
• Punctual, reliable, hard working and enthusiastic
• Demonstrated sensitivity to people from a variety of cultures
• A second language is a distinct advantage with most international airlines
AUSTRALIAN STUDENTSAustralian students should have completed Year 12 and be 18 years old at the completion of the course.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTSInternational students must meet both academic entry and English language requirements. Fully documented evidence in support of academic and English language proficiency must be submitted with all applications.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTSWe recommend that you have completed the final year of secondary school (Australian year 12) in your home country.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
All Aviation Australia international courses require applicants to demonstrate English language proficiency. If required, Aviation Australia can arrange English language training in Brisbane before the course commences.
Australian visa requirements specify that the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) proficiency test is the only accepted means of demonstrating proficiency.
The minimum standard recommended by Aviation Australia is the IELTS – Academic, with an overall band score of 5.5 or as determined by Aviation Australia.
For students from most countries a lower band score can be considered with an Aviation Australia approved ELICOS course.
Further information on IELTS, including testing centres in your country can be found at www.ielts.org
VISA REQUIREMENTSInternational applicants must be able to satisfy visa requirements setby the Australian Government. Please contact Australian Education Centres or the local Australian Diplomatic Mission in relation to
these procedures. Most applicants wishing to enrol for a program at Aviation Australia will require a student visa; in a small number of cases a student visa may not be appropriate. You must investigate this matter with your local Australian Diplomatic Mission. We recommend that you start your enquiries regarding visas early in your investigations into studying in Australia. Travel arrangements to Australia must not be made until a place on the course has been offered. Further visa information can be found at www.immi.gov.au
OVERSEAS STUDENT HEALTH COVER (OSHC) REQUIREMENTSThe granting of a visa to study in Australia is dependent on the applicant obtaining OSHC. This health insurance provides cover for you in the event of illness or accident. In general, OSHC pays a benefit which may not be the full fee, and you may have to pay a ‘gap’ between the fee charged and the benefit paid. Further medical benefit information can be found at www.aviationaustralia.aero/international and www.medibank.com.au
