In order to offer FLA members, the
government sector and investors a more
comprehensive understanding on the
franchise industry in Singapore, FLA
launched a nation-wide study franchise
retail survey (building up a massive
database with over 17,000 retail outlets)
covering 100 shopping malls, all the
existing MRT/LRT stations and Bus
interchanges in Singapore. The sample
population excludes the stores that scatter
across streets, residential areas, hospitals,
hotels, office buildings, etc. Then FLA
filtered out the franchise brands and
produced analytic summaries that are
condensed in a neat little survey report.

Award and Gala Dinner Sub-CommitteeThe objective of the Award Sub-Committee is to recognize franchisors,
licensors, franchisees who have excelled in their field of expertise locally and

presented in October/November during the FLAsia Show period, at the 29

FLAsia Show Sub-CommitteeThe objective of this FLAsia Show Sub-Committee is to bring together an

hub of Singapore. An educational conference featuring pertinent issues and
trends in franchising and licensing, is part of the show component. This
exciting show will take place 29 to 31 October 2015 at Marina Bay Sands,
Singapore.
A special mention for Albert Kong who chaired both the International Relations
and FLAsia Show Sub-Committees since show inception. He has requested
for Dhirendra Shantilal to chair 2015 FLAsia Show as Albert wants to focus
more on International Relations. Dhirendra has kindly agreed.

for their overseas venture. This grant by IE Singapore supports pre-determined activities
focused on helping you in overseas set-ups, identification of business partners and

RetailEX FranchisEX ASEAN 2015 Singapore-Thailand Business Forum
On 29 May 2015, Globe International Events Consultancy (GIEC), IMPACT Exhibition Management Co Ltd, and the Thai Retailers Association
successfully organised the RetailEX FranchisEX ASEAN 2015 Singapore-Thailand Business Forum at the Marina Mandarin Hotel Singapore.
Supported by the Franchising & Licensing Association (Singapore), the full day event had 14 esteemed speakers taking the stage and more than 80
key industry players in attendance. The morning session was dedicated to Franchising and the afternoon session was focused on Retailing.
Ms Donna Lee, Chairman of the Franchising & Licensing Association delivered the opening keynote speech for the Franchising session and
addressed key statistics on the Franchise Industry in Singapore and Thailand. The ASEAN Franchise Business Forum gave attendees the
opportunity to hear from other experienced industry professionals such as Mr Sethaphong Padungpisuth (Gnosis Company Limited (Thailand)), Mr
Albert Kong (Asiawide Franchise Consultants), Mr Dickson Low (Revenue Valley), and Mr Khoo Teck Kim (VF Franchise Consultants). Insightful
topics such as Key Issues Faced in Thailand Franchise Development, Key Drivers of a Successful Franchise, and an active panel discussion on
Accessing the Thailand and ASEAN Franchise Market gave attendees a wide view of the Franchise opportunities and developments in the region.
The ASEAN Franchise Business Forum was followed by a
networking lunch which provided the opportunity for attendees to
mingle and exchange business contacts with fellow industry
players. In the afternoon, the forum continued with the ASEAN
Retail Business Forum which discussed key topics in the retailing
industry in ASEAN.
The success of this forum sets the pace for the industry towards
the inaugural FranchisEX ASEAN 2015 (co-located with RetailEX
ASEAN 2015) scheduled to take place from 17-19 September
2015, at the IMPACT Exhibition & Convention Centre in Bangkok,
Thailand.
