What is Five Sixteenths? Started in July of 2010, Five Sixteenths is the lifestyle blog of a southern post grad named Moe Howard. Moe prides her self in being creative, kind, & encouraging. 5/16 is an outlet for her creative spirit where she shares her creative life adventures, DIY inspiration, frugal fashion sense, & her journey into indie business. Frequenting as a guest blogger is her Yankee
boyfriend, Zach. Moe uses 5/16 as a way of connecting with like-minded bloggers interested in creating a supportive & encouraging blogging atmosphere.
Who is the girl behind the blog? Moe Howard is a southern girl living the post graduate dream by moving out of her parents’ house & in with her best friend. She is a part time Office Manager & a full time self-employment dreamer. In addition to spending her spare time blogging, she runs the Five Sixteenths online shop. The Five Sixteenths Shop is filled with unique, trendy, & affordable pottery, jewelry, & blog design. She dreams of one day supporting herself on her hard work alone & plans on relocating north in 2012 to start on her road to self-employment. She holds a BFA in Ceramics from Longwood University (a small college in the heart of Virginia). During her college career, Moe held 3 majors: Math, Education, & Graphic Design before settling on Ceramics. She describes choosing art as the best decision she’s ever made. She learned more through art than through any other life experience. Moe is a freelance designer, crafter, & potter excited about the opportunity to use her blog as a creative outlet.

Part about blogging: Blogging offers her a way to connect with other like-minded individuals who strive to foster the greatness in others. She loves sharing her experiences in blogging, indie biz, frugal fashion, & her life adventures.
Part of her wardrobe: Shopping the clearance sections of popular retailers affords her the ability to wear a lot of different styles on a post grad budget. She loves a good pair of jeans, a cardigan, & a modest length skirt. Color & pattern are important to her personal style.
Part about being an artist: Through wheel thrown pottery she experiences a trade handed down to her from generations before & seeks to develop her personal throwing style. Currently she is a fan of a speckled stoneware clay body.
What about the Five Sixteenths Shop? The Five Sixteenths shop started in its first incarnation in the summer of 2006. First created to showcase crocheted accessories, the 5/16 shop has grown with Moe’s creative journey into indie business featuring wheel thrown pottery, one of a
kind jewelry, & custom and premade blog design. The Five Sixteenths shop aims to provide trendy, unique, & affordable products as well as foster an appreciation for the handmade.
