• The film ‘Fish tank’ was made in a studio by BBC films and was distributed by IFC films company.

The film ‘avatar’ was distributed by 20th century fox and made in the studios of Light storm Entertainment, Dune Entertainment and Ingenious Film Partners.

• Fish tanks Budget was £1,850,100 and was easy to produce.

• Avatar budget for their film was £146,110,500

• Fish Tank made £103,180 on its first weekend and a since 2010 made a total of £332,488.

• 20th century fox film corporation is one of the six major American film studios as of 2011. Some of the films 20th century fox has produced include Star Wars, Ice Age, X-Men, Die Hard, Predator, Rio, Planet of the Apes, Home Alone, Alien, plus famous TV shows such as M*A*S*H, Cops, The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad! and 24. So it is very popular among American films.

• BBC films institution has produced a number of short films such as ‘The world turns’ and ‘Paper hearts’. BBC films is not all that popular, as it doesn't produce films that are massive sellers, however it does produce good quality films.

• The differences between 20th century fox and bbc films institutions are that 20th century fox is a corporation and therefore a much larger company selling much higher profit films, and BBC films institution is much smaller scale with not as big selling films.

successful?• “20th century fox films” started making film in 1910. Recently they’ve

made films such as.. Water for elephants, X-men, rise of the planet apes and ice age.

• “BBC films” started making films in 1999. Recently they have made films such as… made in Dagenham, Brighton rock and the boy in the striped pyjamas,

• BBC films made more drama based films rather than a range.

What genre of films does the company usually produce?

• The genre of films usually produced by bbc films are drama based. For example in 2012 there where only 7 films made and 3 of which were about Henry V111.

The 20th century fox usually produces light-hearted films/ episodes that can attract a range of audiences. Most of the films are very humorous and would come under the comedy genre.

What audiences do each of the institutions aim to appeal to? Is this reflected through their film

choice?• BCC films aim to appeal to an older more sophisticated

audience, who can handle disturbing more dramatic story lines.

• 20th century fox usually produce films of a more broader audience, ranging from thrillers to comedies , for example, the same institution made ice age 5, which is for children, they also made hide and seek, which is a horror.

Which institutions do you feel outperforms the other? Explain you answer

• 20TH Century outperforms BBC films because it produces a lot more high profitable films that BBC films does, also 20th century creates films for all ages with all types of genres, its not got a niche target audience like BBC films.

They also use actors of a high profile which makes you want to watch a film by 20th because it may contain your favourite actor.
