A Message to our Community

Aswereflectonthepastyear,weextendourgratitudetothecommunityat-largefortheircollectiveeffortstohelpuscelebrateourmilestonecentennialanniversary.Weareproudofour100yearlegacyandthemanyadvancementsinqualitypatient-carethroughthedecades.Yoursupportofoureffortstrulyencouragesuseveryday.

NewLondonHospitalisinit’ssixthyearadvancingandexpandinglocalhealthcarethroughourstrategicrelationshipwithDartmouth-HitchcockHealth(D-HH).ThispartnershipenablesustobringhealthcareexpertsintothecommunitybothinNewLondonandatourNewportHealthCenter(NHC)soresidentsarenotrequiredtotravelawayfromtheirhomecommunitytoseekacademic-levelcare.Thisfulfillsourstrategicinitiativeofmovingprovidersnotpatients.Wecurrentlyoffernearly20specialtyserviceswithover60%ofourprovidersdual-credentialedatbothNLHandDartmouth-HitchcockMedicalCenter.

Thisyearwecontinuedtoexpandourmedicalstaff,enhanceourclinicalservices,andacquireadvancedtechnologytodeliverhigh-quality,safeandcompassionatecare.Withallofourundertakingsandinitiatives,careofourpatientsandtheirfamiliescontinuestotakecenterstage.Addingvaluetothepatientexperiencewasattheheartofouraccomplishments.

OurD-HHmembershiphasincreasedrevenuebyimprovingtheavailabilityandqualityofthemedicalservicesweoffer,andhelpedinmanyways"behindthescenes".ThefinancialresultforNLHisastrongbalancesheet,improvedcashposition,strongerrevenuegrowthandreducedexpensesinsomeareasofoperations.

Wewouldliketothankouremployees,medicalstaff,boardmembersandvolunteersfortheirtirelesseffortsthisyear.Wewanttoespeciallythankourpatientsfortrustingustomeetyourhealthcareneedslocally.Wehopeyoufindthisreportinformativeandhelpfulinprovidingsomeinsightaboutthehospital.
