A family of God, through the love of Jesus Christ:

Reaching Up, Reaching Out, Embracing Everyone!

To honor our members with birthdays in September

Leader: Life is a precious gift from God, a gift for which we give thanks. Thank you God for life. We give special thanks to God for those whose birthdays we celebrate in the month of September We are grateful for these special people, and pray God’s continued blessing upon them. We pray God’s blessing upon them. Each person who is a part of this community of faith brings special gifts that enrich our life together. May we always be open to seeing God's image in each other. Amen.

You may remain seated for the call to worship. Psalm 91: 1-8 (mix of hymnal and NIV adapted) Those who dwell in the shelter of theMost High, who abide in the shadow of the Al mighty, will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust." Surely the Lord will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. Under the Lord's wings we will find refuge, for God's faithfulness is our shield. We will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, Nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at our side, ten thousand at our right hand, but it will not come near us.

We will only observe with our eyes, and see the punishment of the wicked

Words of Centering

"But you, man (or woman) of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you

were called..." (I Timothy 6: 11-12a NIV with words in italics my addition

We stand in poverty before you riches, Lord. We are in ignorance before Your total wisdom. We are sometimes afraid to contemplate what Your love, and mercy, and justice might require of us. Come to us, Lord, calm our fears and lead us in Your ways. Surprise us with Your joy, and speak to our souls. Amen.

Jeremiah 8: 18- 9:1

"There Is a Balm in Gilead"

Luke 13: 18-20

This is the Word of God for the People of God, for which the people say: Thanks Be to God!

What Joys or Concerns do you have to share this week? What celebrations of the life of God have you experienced?

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name./Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven./Give us this day our

daily bread./And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us./And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil./For thine is the kingdom, and the power,

and the glory, forever. Amen.

Proclamation of the Word

“What Does The Lord Require of You”

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow, Praise God, all creatures here below / Alleluia! Alleluia!

Praise God, the source of all our gifts! / Praise Jesus Christ whose power uplifts! Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit! / Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

[After the benediction but before we return to the world as Disciples of Jesus Christ,

Let us form a large circle around the perimeter of the sanctuary for our closing response]

“Let There Be Peace on Earth” Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me;

Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be. With God our Creator, children all are we.

Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony. Let peace begin with me let this be the moment now.

With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow: To take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally.

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.

Everyone is invited to the fellowship hall for refreshments and a time of fellowship
