vests — and have a guide line to open water, just
as they do when exploring caves.
There are some victims in
Concordia's disaster and the students
are worried.
The Costa Concordia cruise ship ran
aground off the west coast of Italy, at
Giglio Island on Friday.
Italian cave-rescue divers are
painstakingly checking thousands of
debris-filled cabins on the Italian liner
Monday for more than 20 people still
unaccounted for out of the 4,200 who
were on board.
Worsening weather and heavy seas
earlier made the wreck slip on the rocky
underwater slope where it is lodged off
the island of Giglio and rescue teams
were evacuated. But they returned to
work after several hours. Eleven bodies
have been found so far.
The divers wear wetsuits reinforced
with Kevlar — the same material used
to make bullet-proof
Due to the fact that many students are
going on a trip to Italy next month,
they are worried about it as we are
going to Italy on boat.

most important element of the carnival.
The costumes used are characteristic of the
years 1750 and abound maschera nobile, a
white mask with black silk robe and hat with
three points. After 1972, other colors have
been added to the costumes, but masks are
still mostly white, silver and gold.

EARTHQUAKES scale liberate?
Every year there are hundreds of
earthquakes in the world. Some of them
are very slight, others have material
damages, and others even provoke
thousands of deaths, such as the
earthquake that last year took place in
Japan.
This made us think a lot about it and we
decided to write this article so that people
know how to react if there is an eartquake
near them.
What is an earthquake? It is a tremor on land caused by the
colission of the tectonic plates. It is
measured with the Ritcher scale.
To know more about earthquakes we are
going to raise some questions:
1.Has the number of earthquakes been
constant along the history?
It has been constant but the number of
deaths has been raising because there are
more building.Nowadays it is more
dangerous because they can fall down.
2.Which are the consequences of the
earthquakes? Are they all the same in
all the countries?
The earthquakes have economic
consequences: they destroy a lot of
buildings and they also have social
consequences: a lot of people die because
of them when the eartquake is very strong.
Earthquakes aren't the same in all the
countries because it depends on the
development of each country.
3.Are there any earthquakes in others
planets?
Yes, In Mars there was an intense
earthquake and we know that in the Moon
there are lots of them but with slight
intensity.
4.How much energy does an
earthquake of nine degrees in Richer
The energy it liberates is compared with
25 000 atomic bombs.
What can you do if there is a
earthquake near you?
- If the tremor is slight, don't panic, it will
finish quickly
- If the tremor is bigger, look for a heavy
structure and stay under it
- If you are inside a building, don't go out,
because it will be more dangerous
- If you are outside look for an open place
and move away from glasses, buildings or
electricity cables.
Conclusion
There are some ways to predict
eartquakes but they aren't very reliable, so
the only thing you can do is to react with
the advises just given before.
Material consequences of an earthquake.

1º BC A. Queríamos presentaros nuestra
sección para esta nueva y revolucionaria
revista que estamos realizando en nuestra
clase.
tiempo. Se trata de Doña Gloria Viedma,
profesora de Historia y una gran persona.
Entrevistadora
s- Buenos días profesora, le
agradecemos mucho que haya
accedido a nuestra entrevista, y
queríamos comenzar
preguntándole, ¿qué fue lo que le
impulsó a estudiar esa carrera?
Profesora- Me impulsó que estaba
estudiando en Sevilla y me sentí atraída
por esa carrera, porque siempre me ha
gustado conocer sobre las civilizaciones
antiguas.
democracia.
E- Si no fuera profesora, ¿a qué se
dedicaría?
P- Pues me hubiera gustado ser
senadora, porque los senadores tienen
un trabajo complementario del
Congreso, viven bien. También es verdad
que ahora me hubiera gustado ser
parlamentaria europea porque me gusta
mucho viajar.
Conozco Europa
casi entera.
También he
además alguien a quien tenemos mucho
aprecio.
aficiones normales, leer... aunque debo
padres me iban orientando, querían algo
tiempo?
P- Al deporte por ejemplo. Madrugo
mucho y algunas veces voy a correr antes
P- Pues he estado en Bélgica viviendo
una temporada, también he viajado por
Marruecos
en mi Dos Caballos; volviendo a Europa
he estado en Francia, Alemania, Austria,
Muchas gracias
por atendernos y responder a estas
preguntas.

CINEMA Cinema's trends:
Impresionism: This style focus on
naturalism. It has some direct style and
goes further than melodramatic schemes.
Some of the most important authors are:
Herni Ghomette and Marcel L'Herbier.
The most representative movie is ''The
wheel'' (1922) by Abel Gance.
Surrealism: Absurd images that break
logic predominate. Two important movies
are: ''Un perro Andaluz''(1929) and ''La
edad de oro'' (1930), by Luis Buñuel.
Expresionist German cinema:(1905)
Some productions that showed the
subjective over the objective perspective.
It was in Weimar's Germany and it gave
more importance to the expresion of
emotions. One important movie is ''The
cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1919).
What is cinema like now?
A lot of things have changed in cinema
since its beginning. The most important
one is the appereance of the sound and
colour. Another relevant change is the
amazing developement of special effects
and something that day by day is getting
more importance: The use of the
computers on the cinema.
Did you know...?
...That the first sound movie was ''The
Jazz Singer''?
...The most expensive movie in history is
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End''?
...EEUU produces between 600 and 800
films every year?
