From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song & praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled. We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

If you would like more information about us or are interested in joining our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket! NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places

    through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.

    Stewardship & Giving

First Sunday of Advent: “Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time will come.” - Mark 13:33. We all take things for granted. In particular, we take time for granted. We make our lives too busy. We plan our time, our days, weeks, months, even years in advance. Remember, our time on earth is a gift. None of us knows how long we will be here. Start today and begin thanking God for each and every day. Take time in silence, every day, and listen to how God is calling you right now to help build His kingdom on earth.

Assisting...............................Deacon Greg Cecere Liturgy Cantor.......................Kevin Skinner Music Director......................Teesie Lupp Isaiah 63:16b-17, 19b; 64:2b-7: Isaiah speaks for a hopeful but disappointed people, much like us. They have such hopes, yet the signs of fulfillment are difficult to see. The frustration is so intense that they claw and tear at whatever separates them from God—and they beg God to “rend the heavens,” to rip them open and “come down.”

1 Corinthians 1:3-9: Hope is the great comfort of knowing that God will keep the promises made to us in Jesus. The hopeful Christian’s life is very different from the one who has no such expectations. Genuinely hopeful Christians will be blameless—not fearful or startled or presumptuous—on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mark 13:33-37: If we live in expectation of good things, they will come—for we will create them. If we are on the watch for signs of the reign of God, we will see them—for we will be a sign of that reign. If we look for goodness, we will find it—because we will be doing a good thing. And if we expect Christmas to make the world a better place this year, the world will already be a better place.

    * * * COMMUNITY INFORMATION * * *

A PRAYER OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION: Lord Jesus Christ, you promised to be with your church always, until the end of time. We long to experience your presence more deeply and more intimately, even when we cannot gather in person as church to celebrate Eucharist.

We believe that you are present when we gather to worship.

We believe you are present in your ordained minister and in your sacred word when the scriptures are proclaimed.

And we believe you are present when your sacred body and blood become our food and drink. Our relationship with you is truly grace.

When we are not able to be physically present at the Eucharist with the community, help us to strengthen and deepen our relationship with you as we seek to encounter and serve you, not only prayer but in all we meet, especially in the poor and needy of our world. Amen

PRAYER INTENTIONS: During this health crisis time, you are invited to email any prayer intentions to our Community. QAC MEMBERS AND THE PANDEMIC: We are now in the eighth month of direct impact of the pandemic. The Social Justice Committee has funds to help those in our community who may have been financially impacted such that they could use some assistance based upon the pandemic. Some members of QAC have made donations which have been designated by the donors to be dedicated to meeting needs of QAC members who have been adversely impacted by the pandemic. Social Justice Ministry is grateful for the kind donations.

If you are struggling to balance potentially increased expenses caused by the pandemic while suffering decreased income due to the shelter/isolate at home rules imposed for safety by the State of Ohio, we would like to help. If you need assistance with groceries, other essential needs, or if you are housebound and unable to purchase necessities as a sole caregiver, please let us know if we can help. If you think our Social Justice Ministry may be able to help, please contact the Community Ministry (either Chris Sitko or Sharie McKenny). Your situation will be held in confidence.

EXPECTATION, YEARNING, ANTICIPATION, PREPARATION, WAITING…Once again we mark the arrival of Advent. This holy season trumpets God’s extravagant love for us, a love beyond reckoning. Into our beautiful yet wounded world comes Emmanuel, God-with-us, carrying the promise of fresh hope to enliven our hearts. No matter how broken or seemingly hopeless our world may sometimes seem, the Advent messages are rich with joyous expectation and longing, insisting that God can and does bring forth life where none seems possible. ― Sr. Chris Koellhoffer IHM, Pope Francis: Living Advent With Joy and Peace: Encouragement and Prayers

BLESSING OF THE ADVENT WREATH - 2019

Presider: The wreath…a circle expressing God's unending eternity. The evergreens…symbolize God's unchangeableness and our immortality. The candles, one for each week of Advent, represent the thousands of years during which humanity awaited the Redeemer. The blue candles remind us of long expectation. The rose candle symbolizes joy and hope in awaiting Jesus' birth.

Loving God, to you belong the seasons and the ages. You are the beginning and the end of all things.

Let us pray. Creator God, today we begin our time of

preparation for the birth of your Son. We ask you to bless this wreath and grant that, as we use it, we may receive your abundant graces. May the year before us be a gem in the crown which awaits us in your heavenly home. We ask this through Christ our Lord. ALL: AMEN.

    (1st Candle is lighted).

Presider: (As the wreath is sprinkled with holy water) May this light remind us of Jesus who is the true Light of the world. Let us call upon him for whose coming we prepare and for whom we wait, for he is God from God, Light from Light, True God from True God.
