My Future, My Way
Part 3 First, High School
Counselors from Marble Falls High School will be visiting with 8th graders February 13 and February 14 (this Tuesday and Wednesday) during your science classes.
Be ready to learn about high school requirements, endorsements, graduation plans, and options for next year classes.
Plan on attending the Mustang Round-Up, Thursday, February 15 at Marble Falls High School.
To prepare for the MFHS visits, lick on “Graduation Toolkit” to learn more information on planning for your high school year.
Here are links to documents on the MFHS website. Review the documents to prepare questions for the counselors.
You can also find them at www.marblefallsisd.org - Departments - Counseling - Registration
Here are tips for making your classes count. Create these good habits now so you will have developed the skills for high school and beyond.
Ask for help in any class in which you find yourself falling behind. Remember, your teachers want to help you succeed.
Keep up with class assignments. Finish them before they are due.
Ask questions! If you don’t understand something, chances are others in the class don’t understand either.
Join in class
discussions.
Sit close to the front
of the classroom
when possible.
Plan a daily homework schedule and stick to it. Do more than is required.
Learn to take good class notes and get in the habit of reviewing your notes every day.
Learn to proofread, correct, and rewrite your written work.
Plan for the future, and act on it today!
You might want to look back at the personal inventories you did a while back to help you consider courses and plans for your future.
Here is an additional learning style inventory to help you develop habits you need to be successful:
On a piece of paper, keep track of your score. Give yourself a:3 = Often2 = Sometimes1 = Seldom/never
