1 February 27, 2015 By Mrs. Bierly We are getting back to our routines and learning! Hooray! Writer’s Workshop: We started writing reviews this week. We first brainstormed a list of places, restaurants, and “things” like games, apps, and toys that we could write an opinion about. We then became detectives and looked at a movie review written about “The Incredibles” and an app review written about “Rush Hour”. Next, we highlighted what a review includes, and we got started writing our own reviews. We focused on organizing it with a good lead, a sneak peek of information, and even gave it a rating. They did a great job starting and I can’t wait to help each student polish up their work! Science: We practiced making science observations this week with mystery envelopes. We made science teams and used our senses plus a paper clip and a magnet to make a hypothesis about four objects. They did a great job sticking to describing words and not guessing the object. They are ready to explore magnets next week! Math: The pictures above show the students asking their own survey question to the members of the class. Once they gathered their data, they then organized it on a piece of paper in a way that other students could compare pictures, numbers, and words. Then they were required to write their own questions about the data using the words more or fewer. They did an amazing job with the task.--------See Announcements Below First Grade Flash

We are getting back to our routines and learning!

Once they

gathered their data, they then organized it on a piece of paper in a way that other students could compare pictures, numbers, and words. Then they were required to write their own questions about the data using the words more or fewer. They did an amazing job with the task.--------See Announcements Below
