New Sign-up Method for Lay Ministry Serving Duties

Sign-up sheets are located in the back of the sanctuary for the up-coming three-month period, listing all weeks/services/duties. It is hoped that volunteers will consider signing up to do a certain job for an entire month - however, we know that it may not be fea-sible for some to do that. If that is the case, please don’t hesitate to sign-up to assist for whatever weeks you are available.

Please also continue to check the ‘serving this weekend’ and ‘serving next weekend’ boards when you come to worship each week to see if there is a blank spot that you could fill.

Be looking for the new sign-up board in the sanctu-ary with the February, March, & April serving oppor-tunities - your willingness to assist is a major factor in creating a smooth flow for our worship services!

Thank You.....

We wish to thank you for your prayers, cards and gifts for our family during the loss of our grandson, Will. He lived almost two months. He was born with many health issues and we are so blessed to have had him in our lives, even for such a short time.

~ Larry & Deb Richmond and family

Thanks to our First Lutheran Church family for remembering us with the tasty Christ-mas gift plates. It means so much to be a part of this great family.

~ Bob & Lois Johnson

Thank you very much for the Christmas fruit & snack plate. It is so nice to still be remem-bered after being members of First Luther-an for so long.

Giving Voice for Iowa Children and Families – Lutheran Day on the Hill

Families living in poverty. Iowa children who go hungry. Former refugees building new lives. These kinds of issues are rarely the center of attention at the Iowa State Capitol. Let’s change that!

Please consider joining Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) for Lutheran Day on the Hill, an annual day of advocacy in Des Moines to uplift the needs of our neighbors. The event will be held on Tuesday, Feb-ruary 21. Visit www.LSIowa.org/advocacy next month for event details, online registration and an online toolkit for your congregation, including how to participate in this year’s congregational letter-writing campaign.

If you are new to advocacy, come learn more about the legislative process and your role as a citizen. If you’ve attended before, join us again. We hope this year’s schedule will also allow you more opportunities to connect with legislators.

Our Mission: Lutheran Services in Iowa responds to the love of Jesus Christ through compas-sionate service. We proudly serve people of all ages, abilities, religions, sexes, gender identities, national origins, ethnicities, races, and sexual orientations. Learn more at www.LSIowa.org and www.facebook.com/LSI.iowa.

Just a reminder.....

If your mailing address or phone number changes, please notify Lynne in the church office at 927-3420. This includes if you will be gone for an extended period of time and need to have your Lamplighter, etc. sent to a differ-ent address or held until you return.

Also, if you no longer wish to receive the Lamplighter, or if you would prefer to receive it via e-mail, please notify Lynne.

In addition, if you misplace or recycle your Lamplighter, you may view it on the First Lu-theran website:
