High school coach John Harrison reluctantly agrees to take over the cross-country team, a sport he doesn’t even like. His outlook changes when he meets Hannah Scott, a young runner who pushes herself to the limit and inspires those around her.
Using a detailed life size replica of the Tabernacle of Moses, this study presents an expert-guided tour and explanation of each part. As you walk through this life-size model of the Old Testament Tabernacle, you will work your way from the Outer Courtyard into the Most Holy Place. The study explains the significance and symbolism of each section of the Tabernacle and reveals how they point to the coming of Jesus. This study will begin on Sunday, September 8th at 5:00 PM in the Chapel.

UPCOMING DATES FOR KIDS
YOUTH NEWS
It has been a busy summer with our church’s 150th Sesquicentennial Celebra-tion, a mission trip to Haiti, moving our daughter to Colorado, getting ready for our son’s wedding in November and squeezing in a vacation with my brothers and their wives. It has been a great summer. But it’s time to move into the fall. Beginning in September, the choir will provide a night of worship sharing some of our best anthems on a Sunday night. And in September, we will begin work-ing on our Christmas musical presentation. September is a great time to join choir. Have you ever listened to the choir and thought about joining us as we sing? There is no audition process. We would love to have you sing with us. The choir rehearses on Wednesday nights in the choir room at 7:10 to 8:10 pm. If you have any questions, just contact me. The Children’s Choirs will resume on Tuesday, September 10th. We have Pre-school Choir, Music Makers (grades 1-3) and Young Musicians (grades 4-6). We have a great time and pick up students at both schools (Magnolia and Senat-obia) or students can be dropped off around 3:10 pm. We are looking for a few more people who could help with giving out cookies and watching the kids play in the gym from 3:00 to 3:30 pm. If you are available, please let me know. This Sunday is going to be a great day of worship. I know the summer is busy
for many of us but as we get back into the school schedule, I trust you will
make plans to join us during one of our Sunday morning services as we focus
on the greatness of our God! See you Sunday!
Join us every Wednesday night for
youth Worship at 6:00!

Charles Spurgeon said “Brethren, we are generally too fast with our tongue when someone accuses us. I am afraid we are not always so quick to defend our Master, as we are to defend ourselves.”
Spurgeon is obviously chiding Christians, but for what? For being too quick to defend ourselves? Or for being too slow to defend the Lord?
My guess is the former. Many of us, and probably all of us from time to time, are very quick to defend ourselves when we feel attacked in some way. When someone accuses us of doing something wrong, or doing something poorly, we look at it as an attack on our abilities, or our character, and our dedica-tion. Let’s be honest…we love to have the approval of those around us.
And the problem is that we don’t truly live out what Paul says in Colossians 3:23…”23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men…”
We may say that we live according to that verse, but so often we strive to seek the approval of men, rather than the approval of God…and where the 2 may not agree, too many times we choose to please our fellow man.
Remember that bringing honor and glory to God should be the chief end of Man. And we can do that in our daily lives by seeking to please Him in all that we do, regardless of whether or not it will please others.
Hebrews 10:26-31 this week…yet another warning from the author of He-brews! :/
Love you all, and I’ll see you Sunday!
