A direct vent system is a sealed combustion system separate from the envelope of the home, keeping indoor air quality at its peak. Direct vent is a pipe within a pipe that naturally draws air into the fireplace from outside the home to the fireplace for combustion through the outer wall of the pipe and vents all exhaust out through the interior pipe. Although negative pressure is common in both residential (especially newer air-tight homes) and commercial spaces, it has no effect on the fireplace because of the ultra-efficient air direct vent technology.
