The Festival of A Million Fireflies!

You would not believe your eyes, if a million fireflies lit up the skies

They fill the open air & leave teardrops everywhere Youd think me rude, but I would just stand and stare

Firefly flashes are part of a complex system of insect attraction male fireflies in the air use distinctive patterns of flashing and flying to signal females of their species on the ground. Females then respond with a flash, after a set interval that signals they are of the same species. This display of love in order to find the right mate only makes it luminously beautiful

Not only will you get to bear witness to this one of a kind natural phenomenon at night, you can also participate in the fun-filled afternoons of eating unlimited mangoes, karvandas and jamuns by the river. For the mighty adventurous ones, feel free to climb the trees and help yourselves.

This June, you can choose to experience a confluence of a million natural lights, culture & tradition

Purushwadi, the home of the Mahadeo Koli folks, is at a height of 1000 ft above sea-level rendering the temperature cool and breezy. The villagers invite you to partake in their life, to plough the land, sow rice, milk goats, chop wood, draw water from the well, climb trees and learn about various medicinal plants. The surroundings offer great trekking opportunities on gentle slopes where you can enjoy the sunrise or sunset.

*All activities, though part of the package, are optional. Please consult with the guides on all activities for the day

Time Offerings

12:00 Arrival / Traditional Welcome /Tent allotment/Freshen-up

13:00 Organic Vegetarian Lunch in Villagers homes prepared by Local Women

16:30 Tea & Biscuits or Snack packs (*Special unlimited local snacks on weekends)

17:00 Light walk around the Village & participation in Village Lifestyle Activities & Village games.

(Sunset trek - Optional)

19:30 Dinner (Special Traditional PuranPoli and Amti for dinner on weekends)

20:30 Walk around the village and enjoy the dance of a Million Fireflies Day 2

6:00 (Optional) Wake-up Call, Bed Tea, Sunrise trek

8:00 Breakfast

10:00 Plough the fields, Sow rice Pluck and Enjoy Unlimited Mangoes, Karwandas & Jamuns (Basket loads of Mangoes will be supplied on weekends)

ACCOMMODATION

We have 4 different types of accommodation to offer you this year.

1. Canvas tents at the Grassroutes campsite These are beautifully designed Canvas Tents specially constructed for Grassroutes Journeys. They have a raised platform inside the tent that serve as beds / benches to sit. Shared Western bathrooms are available for your use.

2. Camping Tents at the Grassroutes campsite pitched on raised concrete slabs. Shared Western bathrooms are available for your use.

3. Camping tents pitched on the ground 300 m away from the main Campsite. Shared Indian bathrooms will be available for use.

4. Village Home-stays: Recommended for those who want a true connect with the locals and those who want to observe authentic rural lifestyles.

Cancellation Policy

All changes to bookings to be conveyed on info@grassroutes.co.in. We operate a cancellation policy and will charge a 50% cancellation fee for any cancellation received less than 48 hours before event.

We reserve the right to charge the full amount for any cancellations received less than 24 hours before event date or in case of a no show.
