INTRODUCTION

A door is a moving structure used to block off, and allow access to, an entrance to or within an enclosed space, such as a building or vehicle. Similar exterior structures are called gates.

Typically doors have an interior side that faces the inside of a space and an exterior side that faces the outside of that space. While in some cases the interior side of a door may match its exterior side, in other cases there are sharp contrasts between the two sides, such as in the case of the vehicle door.

Doors normally consist of a panel that swings on hinges or that slides or spins inside of a space.

DOOR LEAF

Leaf Sizes :Height (mm) x Width (mm) = from 2135 x 1200 until 2800 x 915. The manufactured size of the leaf may be reduced in height or width without restriction

Materials: Softwood, Hardwood, MDF Door frames : The door frames must be

manufactured from mild steel as tested or alternatively stainless steel of the appropriate grade e.g. 304 or 316 may be used.

Page 11: Fire rated final

The 3mm gap between the door and frame is important

CLOSERS, HINGE, ESSENTIAL IRONMONGERY

What is meant by the term ‘Essential Ironmongery’?

Essential Ironmongery such as hinges, closers, locks and latches should be CE marked and CERTIFIRE Approved and are vital to the fire resistance performance of the door assembly.

CLOSERS, HINGE, ESSENTIAL IRONMONGERY

What hinges should I use?Hinges (or butts) MUST be CERTIFIRE Approved.usually 1½ pairs made of metal with melting point above 800°C.

FIRE & SMOKE SEALS

An intumescent strip, which expands when exposed to heat

Neoprene weather stripping Gaskets to prevent the passage of smoke

Page 16: Fire rated final

GLAZING DETAIL offer passive fire resistance which they have a fire property or function whichdoes not warn of, or extinguish, fire. A system that comprises glass,a frame and a glazing and fixingmethod. The system is only as effective asthe weakest part
