Most physical access control systemsin use today are based upon proxim-ity cards or identifcation numbers.Unortunately, this technology doesnot prevent individuals rom using

 someone else’s card or ID to enter arestricted area. Biometric technolo-

gies are extensively used to provide  strong user authentication and avoid this type o security breach.Combined with contact-less smart cards, biometric readers also allow multi-actor user authentication,thus reinorcing the system’s overall level o security.

  The MorphoAccess™ 500 series ea-

tures a new range o indoor/outdoorbiometric and contact-less smart card

terminals versatile enough to address a

wide range o application rom legacy

or new access control systems to standalone and governmental programs.All the MA500 models operate in

identication mode and oer a storage

capacity o two biometric templates

per person rom 3,000 to 50,000 indi-

viduals broken down in 5 databases o 

10,000 each.The MA520 models also oer the pos-

sibility o reading contact-less smart

cards or 1:1 verication. The biometric

data can either be stored on the card or

on the terminal. In the latter case, the

card is used to screen the database on

the MA and retrieve the correspondingbiometric templates. The device can

also read ISO 14443-A & B cards (Con-

tact SAGEM or more inormation).

The MA521 model integrates a spe-cic optronic sensor, based on Sagem

patented technology, or ake nger

detection. This may be o great interest

in highly secure environments or when

the terminal is let unsupervised.

  The whole MA 500 range oers stan-dard interaces to return the ID to the

host system. The terminal can be used

in either stand-alone or networked

mode. In stand alone mode, it activates

its own internal relay. When networked,it can either operate in proxy or ap-

plication mode. In proxy mode, theterminal is dependent on a host con-

troller that sends commands according

to the Morpho® Host System Interace

protocol. In application mode, the ter-minal manages the operation workfow

either or physical access control or

time & attendance. In both modes the

remote terminal management is pos-

sible through TCP/IP or USB. Terminal

management includes, log retrieval,terminal conguration setup, rmware

upgrade, biometric database opera-

tions, etc.

With the MorphoAccess™ Easy Setup,MorphoAccess™ terminals are easilycongured.

Software

  The MEMS application release 6.2 orhigher (MorphoAccess™ Enrolment &

Management System), is a complete

solution or centralized management

in legacy or stand-alone systems. It sup-

ports the entire MA terminal range. We

also oer integrators who develop theirown system the Morpho Integrator’s Kit

(MIK).

MorphoAccess™ SDKA Sotware Development Kit can be

proposed to VARs who want to develop

their own embedded application (Con-tact SAGEM or more inormation).
