It’s finally time to END GUTTER CLEANING FOREVER! Spring rain and thunderstorms bring life around us as trees become flush with green again and germinate a har-vest of seedlings to be scattered all over Northeast Ohio. Yet the same life giving rains and germinating foliage cause millions of dollars of water damage across the region every year in the form of wet basements, leaky ceilings, and sag-ging gutters. Sadly, the rejuvenating spring rains can also be deadly for the homeowner. A 2014 study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that falls remain a leading cause of death in America and nearly half of those deadly falls have been from ladders. When it comes to gutter maintenance, the risk is simply not worth it for the homeowner. The Gutter Boys Company wants to encour-age you to leave the most dangerous of household chores to the professionals.
Some Good News Of course, the very best and safest way to protect your home from the water damage that clogged gutters can cause is by having an effective gutter protection system in-stalled. The Gutter Boys is proud to be the exclusive install-
er of Valor Gutter Guard. Valor is the #1 RATED GUTTER GUARD on the market today according to The NCR Con-sumer Advocacy Group who conducted an extensive and prolonged test of dozens of gutter guards (see the results here: gutterprotectionreview.org/the-results). Valor Gutter Guard didn’t just top the ranking overall, it ranked first in every category including: 1. Price 2. Effective Protection Coefficient 3. Industry Reputation 4. Strength 5. Water Throughput 6. Durability The Gutter Boys and Valor Gutter Guard have teamed up to offer Ohio the top performing gutter protection sys-tem in America. Don’t risk life and limb anymore; have Valor installed and end gutter cleaning forever!
It Just Makes Sense When you think about it, an effective gutter guard system from The Gutter Boys just makes sense in the long run. The average homeowner in Northeast Ohio
spends around $2000 over a five-year period for the par-tial protection that gutter cleaning in the spring and fall provides. Yet for about the same price, you can get 24-hour protection 365 days out of the year for the full life of your gutters. Call for a free quote 440-454-7040, www.thegutterboys.com.

Tax Freedom Day, which typically occurs in late April, is the day when the nation has earned enough money to pay its total bill for the year. Why not use this opportunity to determine if you can liberate yourself from some investment-related taxes? For starters, consider holding your investments for at least one year before selling them. By doing so, your profits will be assessed the long-term capital gains rate, which will likely be considerably lower than the short-term rate. Also, be open to investing in dividend-paying stocks. Most dividends are only taxed at 15 percent for most taxpayers, thus providing you with a source of income that may be taxed lower than your earned income. Perhaps most importantly, contribute as much as you can to your tax-advantaged retirement accounts, such as your IRA and 401(k). You might get a tax deduction and your earnings can grow tax deferred. Tax Freedom Day will be here and gone, but by making tax-smart investment moves, you might reap some benefits for years to come. Lee Burneson Middle School seventh-grade pre-engineering students brought home three top awards in the Junior Solar Sprint (JSS) race at Cleveland State University on May 18. The team of Makki Al-Saffar and Evan Wrights-man took home the title of Fastest Car from a field of 70 competing cards. Chloe Howlett and Brianna Ware’s car won the Most Innova-tive award, which was judged by NASA engineers and CSU students. LBMS also brought home the Most Spirit Award.

The National Garden Clubs, Inc. designates a week in June every year as National Garden Week. They ask lo-cal garden clubs to celebrate with activities that involve the community to learn more about gardening and making good choices. This year the Westlake Garden Club will celebrate Na-tional Garden Week with the following activities: Monday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m. – come to Dean’s Green-house, 3984 Porter Road to learn how to plant a vegetable garden in a container – what vegetables work best. Bring a container to plant or purchase one there. A good selection of plants will be available.
National Garden Week, June 5-11 Wednesday, June 8 at 10:30 a.m. – it is never too early to get children involved in gardening. Bring your children to Westlake Porter Public Library, 27333 Center Ridge Road to pick up a kit with everything needed to grow a plant from seed. Friday, June 10 at 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. – stop by our ta-ble at Westlake Porter Public Library, 27333 Center Ridge Road to “talk to the gardeners.” Club members will be available to answer your questions and give helpful hints on growing a beautiful garden. We hope you will join us for one, or all of the above activities to help celebrate National Garden Week.
