Q#1:WHAT IS FINANCIAL AID?
Answer:
Financial aid is money offered by thefederal government to help students payfor education expenses at eligible colleges,technical schools and career technology
schools (that's Metro Tech!)
Q#2:WHICH FINANCIAL AID PROGRAMS AREAVAILABLE TO METRO TECH STUDENTS?
Answer:
Federal Pell Grants are awarded toundergraduate students who have not yetearned a bachelor's degree. Students canreceive a Federal Pell Grant for up to 12
semesters, and this money does not have tobe paid back.
Low-interest student loans are available foreligible students to help cover the cost ofhigher education at a four-year college,
community college or career andtechnology school(that's Metro Tech!)
Q#3:WHO CAN RECEIVE FINANCIAL AID?
Answer:
Any Metro Tech student who meetseligibility requirements can receive some
type offinancial aid, regardless of age or family
income.
You must bea U.S. citizen or an eligible noncitizenhave a valid Social Security numberaccepted or enrolled as a regular studentin an eligible full-time Metro Tech careermajor

The first step is for studentsto complete and submit the
(also known as FAFSA).illing out the FAFSA is easy and FREE!

Q#5:WHEN SHOULD THE STUDENT APPLY
FOR FINANCIAL AID?
Answer:
If you are planning to enroll at Metro Techin March 2016, you should complete the
2015-16 FAFSA as soon as possible. To applyfor financial aid for the 2016-17 school year,
the deadline is June 30, 2017.
Q#6:HOW MUCH FINANCIAL AIDWILL A STUDENT RECEIVE?
Answer:
The Metro Tech Financial Aid Officewill determine how much financial aid youare eligible for once the student submits
a completed FAFSA application.
Q#7:HOW MUCH FINANCIAL AIDWILL A STUDENT RECEIVE?
Answer:
Yes, there are. Students enrolled in full-timeprograms that are less than 600 clock
hours in length are not eligible to receivefinancial aid.
Additionally, Metro Tech's Adult& Career Development programs offeredat our Economic Development Center are
not eligible for financial assistance.
