Financial Aid and Billing Information

Paying for College and Financial Aid:

We know college can be expensive so we want to inform you of some resources that can assist you in

funding this important part of your future.

Applying for Financial Aid

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, also known as the FAFSA, is part of the Department of

Education. The FAFSA helps provide assistance in the form of grants, loans, scholarships, and work-study

opportunities to students who qualify.

Your first step to receiving Financial Aid is to complete the FAFSA. You will need to know IHCC’s school

code to complete the FAFSA: 008298. If you need assistance completing the FAFSA, the Educational

Opportunity Center can help you free of charge! The Educational Opportunity Center, or EOC, can also

assist you with completing your Master Promissory Note and Loan Entrance Counseling, which are

required if you take out loans. The Educational Opportunity Center can be reached by calling 641-683-

5315 or by emailing them at [email protected].

After Indian Hills receives your FAFSA, one of two things will happen:

1. You will be awarded Financial Aid and an award letter will be sent to you by the IHCC Financial

Aid Office.

2. You will be chosen for verification by the Department of Education and additional documents

will be requested from you. The IHCC Financial Aid Office will send you a letter notifying you of

these additional documents. We recommend that you return these documents to IHCC as soon

as possible. You will not be awarded Financial Aid until all documents are received and

reviewed.

Next, we will take a look at how you can check the status of your Financial Aid any time of the day! First,

login to WebAdvisor, choose the blue STUDENTS menu and then click on “Student Account Suite” under

the Financial Information heading. In your Student Account Suite, you can view your Financial Aid award

letter and see an updated list of steps for completing your Financial Aid checklist. If you are planning on

taking out loans, you will see “Complete your Master Promissory Note” and “Loan Entrance Counseling”

on your checklist. Simply click the link in the checklist and you will be taken to the Department of

Education website to complete these tasks. Once you are awarded, you can accept your loans, if you

choose to do so, in WebAdvisor. If you are still in the Verification stage, you will see a list of additional

documents we are requesting from you.

For any questions about the status of your Financial Aid, contact the OneStop Monday through Thursday

from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm at 641-683-5262, or email them at [email protected], or visit our

website at www.indianhills.edu/payingforcollege

Paying Your Bill:

Now that you have your Financial Aid in place, let’s talk about your bill. At IHCC, your bill is due on the

8th day of every term. You will want to be sure to have your bill paid in full, have financial aid in place,

or be signed up for the Payment Plan by this date or you will be charged a late fee.

Now, you might be wondering, “How much is my estimated bill after my Financial Aid has been

applied?” Let’s look at a quick tool you can use to check your account balance. In WebAdvisor, click on

the “Print Account Activity” link.

In the Print Account Activity page, you will see three bubbles. The first bubble states your total current

charges for the term. The second bubble includes any anticipated financial aid or scholarships. The last

bubble shows the remaining balance. If the balance is a negative number, this means you are receiving

more financial aid than the amount of your bill and you may receive a refund. If the balance is a positive

number, this is the amount you owe. We would like to note that not all aid is refundable, so the negative

amount you see may not all be refunded to you. Also, certain scholarships and funding sources only pay

for specific items, such as tuition and fees. If you have questions about your bill, please contact the

OneStop at 641-683-5262, or email them at [email protected].

Next we’ll talk more about your Student Account Suite. In your Student Account Suite, you can make

a payment, sign up for the Payment Plan, view your bill, and more. To access your Student Account

Suite, login to WebAdvisor, click on the blue STUDENTS menu, then click on Student Account Suite under

Financial Information (on the left side of the screen). You will be prompted to “click here to continue”

and your Student Account Suite will begin to load. This may take a minute or two.

Making a Payment

Once your Student Account Suite is open, you will see your current account balance. If you need to

make a payment, click on Make Payment and follow the prompts to enter your payment information.

While in your student account suite, you will be able to make your payment via debit or credit card or by

ACH. If you prefer to pay by cash or check, you can do so at our OneStop.

Payment Plan

Indian Hills offers one payment plan option each term. The Payment Plan allows you to make three

equal payments on your balance on set due dates. For example, the first payment on a fall term bill will

be due on August 10th, the second payment for the fall term bill will be due on September 10th and the

third payment for the fall term bill will be due on October 10th. These dates are set for all students and

are not flexible. You can only sign up for the Payment Plan through your Student Account Suite.

FAQ about payment plans:

What if I miss the first Payment Plan due date?

You can still sign up for the Payment Plan after the date of the first payment. Please note that your first

payment will be due the day you sign up. The second and third payment dates will remain the same.

Will my payments automatically come out of my bank account?

When you sign up for the Payment Plan, you can choose if you would like your payment to come directly

out of your account, or if you prefer to login prior to each payment due date to make the payment

manually.

What happens if I miss a payment?

If you miss a payment, you will be charged a $15 late fee. A late fee will be assessed for each missed

payment.

Do I need to sign up for the Payment Plan each term?

Payment Plans are set up on a term-by-term basis. You will need to sign up for the Payment Plan each

term.

Additional Student Account Suite Features

Setting up your E-Refund Account: Some students may have more financial aid than the total cost of

their bill. The College will refund these students the excess funds via their E-Refund account. If you

anticipate receiving a Financial Aid refund, we recommend setting up an E-Refund account. Note: not all

forms of Financial Aid are refundable. If you have questions about an award, please contact OneStop.

Setting up an Authorized User: Another feature of your Student Account Suite is setting up an

authorized user. An authorized user is someone you would like to have access to your student bill and

who can make payments on your account on your behalf. You can set up an authorized user by clicking

on the authorized user button on the right side of the Student Account Suite home page.

Setting up your Dorm Deposit: If you plan on living in the dorms but have not paid your dorm deposit,

you will need to do so before your housing application can be processed. Click on Deposits at the top of

the Student Account Suite home screen and follow the prompts to pay your dorm deposit.
