I- Rules at School 2006-2007

11.. DDrreessss ccooddee aanndd bbeehhaavviioouurr

School is, above all, a place of work and education. Whilst we do not pass value judgement, it

is important that the following basic rules are observed to create a pleasant atmosphere throughout the School for the well being of all. General behaviour both in and outside the classroom determines the level of Attitude Grade a pupil achieves.

- clothing as well as hair style must be sober, simple, and decent ; - respect for the simple rules of hygiene is essential ; - no chewing-gum, Walkman, or valuables may be brought on to school premises ; - smoking is not permitted on the school grounds, nor in the close vicinity ; - courtesy and respect for others and the environment must be shown at all times. - Boys and girls are expected to behave in a decent way.

22.. AAbbsseenntteeeeiissmm

- If a child is absent, the parents must inform the school by phone before 10.00 am. A letter signed and dated by parents should be handed to school.

- If a pupil is unwell he/she is sent to the reception where the receptionist is the only person authorized to inform parents that they need to come and collect their child. Under no circumstances are the parents or the child asked to take the initiative themselves.

- It is very essential that pupils and parents are punctual and respect the School Timetable. Sanctions may be applied if a pupil is too often late for no good reason.

- Lateness : punctuality is vital : lateness will be sanctioned

33.. LLuunncchh

- It is compulsory for all students present at school during lunchtime to eat at the cafeteria. - All students at Ombrosa and at Vendôme must have a lunch token to enter the dining-room

44.. AAttttiittuuddee mmaarrkkss

These are based on a general demeanour, as much in the classroom as out of it. They take into account : - the quality of work produced - participation in class - respect for the rules - how focused and constructive a pupil is - their relationships with their peers - relationships with teaching staff and management - their participation in the life of the school 55.. LLoosstt PPrrooppeerrttyy

Lost property is deposited at the reception area. Each child is responsible for his/her own belongings. The school cannot be held responsible for the theft or damage of any item. This being so, all valuable objects are prohibited.

66.. MMoobbiillee PPhhoonnee

Page 3: OMBROSA CE1- Final Year : Ombrosa sports top ... • English literature workshop meets ... DS + exam time-tables take precedence over the usual daily time-table

These are allowed amongst pupils of Secondary School age but for not for those in the Primary School. They are not allowed to be used or to ring in class or within the building. We urge everyone to use them only when absolutely necessary for practical purposes, any excess is firmly discouraged.

Should the above conditions not be respected, it will lead to a detention at school or if repeated, the child might receive a warning letter or be excluded from school. A public phone is available at the reception.

77.. SSaannccttiioonnss

Respect for others, for the image of people, for property, for the rules, the identity and philosophy of the school are the basic principals. Sanctions are used to uphold these principals. It is important that they be acted upon. They can take various forms :

- marks - extra school work - tasks, community service - detention - confiscation of objects - temporary exclusion - expulsion

They can be applied by the teaching staff, the staff or the management, as appropriate. 88.. SSppoorrtt

Sport is an integral part of the curriculum and is thus compulsory. Each family is responsible for ensuring that their child is fit to take part in sports lessons. Pupils not participating in sports activities for medical reasons must attend lessons. The school must be informed in writing of any medical problem and provided with an accompanying medical certificate, if necessary. Each certificate should provide the following information :

- the name and the address of doctor - the exact nature of the problem - the length of time for which the child will need to be exempted - how the school will be informed of the child’s ability to recommence – either when the certificate

expires or by the issue of a certificate of fitness - any possible side effects of the illness, in order to allow the sports teacher to adapt his/her

curriculum when possible.

99.. SSppoorrtt ccllootthheess

Pupils are required to wear the agreed school sports clothes.

GSM and CP : Only the School T-shirt, shorts and judo-kimono are compulsory and the tracksuit is strongly recommended.

CE1- Final Year : Ombrosa sports top, leggings, T-shirt and shorts are compulsory.

We recommend that children keep a towel and a raincoat in his/her sports bag. Please ensure that the name of your child is written with indelible ink on each piece of clothing. Sport shoes should be packed in a specific small bag.

Please find enclosed prices and information on a separated sheet.
