AVAAZ PETITION: TO ALL WHO LOVE DOLPHINS, TO ALL WHO REVERE WILDLIFE, TO ALL WHO SEEK AND HAVE SOUGHT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

The largest Dolphin Slaughter in the world occurs not in Japanese Taiji or theDanish Faroes but in the Solomon Islands. According to statistics Dolphinsnumbering in the "tens of thousands" have been hunted and killed for hundredsof years in order to provide sustenance to the Tribes and villagers in the Solomon Islands. Today the carnage and suffering is exacerbated by those who promoteand profit from the live capture and trade industry which was introduced in2003 by the outside world.

The Mission of Global Wildlife Warriors is to end the Dolphin Slaughter* in theSolomon Islands once and for all.

This said, we have to point out that at first glance the problem seemsimmensely complex involving government officials and policies, corruption, bribery, foreign tuna fleets, legal and illegal, foreign traders, domestictraders, dolphin-tooth currency, dolphin-meat consumption, foreign tourists,

foreign activists and their foibles, foreign animal welfare organizations andtheir failings, and, most of all, the age-old native culture itself.

Yet in this day and age barbaric customs based on ancient culture do notjustify this slaughter. This is due to the fact that the tribes of the Solomonshave stated that are more than ready to give up this slaughter but do not want t

o starve in the process! What it would cost per annum is minimal in any currency other than Solomon. When we hear the local chiefs mention that $1,000 USD to $2,000 USD a year

would give life back to thousands of Dolphins, it saddens many a heart torealize that with such a minimal subsidy so many lives could be saved.

This is the bottom sad line: the Two tribes which are hunting would stop with the aid ofabout $2,500 USD annually. This amount would feed members of both Tribes for ayear. And, if there were no hunts to feed the coffers of those dark souls who trade inDolphin captivity, it would be nearly impossible to acquire, hide andtransport Dolphins into a life of captivity.

Given all these factors and players, the solution when found will be comparablycomplex. There is no simple or simplistic fix without the intervention of the Royal Family.

In a serendipitous turn of events, His Royal Highness Prince William, Duke ofCambridge, recently addressed the 'End Wildlife Crime Conference' at St.James Palace. In a passionate speech for his cause he made the following stateme

nt:"My plea to you today comes not from a place of expertise, but a place ofdeep respect for the world that we have inherited."............"We all knowhow devastating the illegal wildlife trade is on populations of endangeredspecies - we have all heard the statistics. My fear is that one of two thingswill stop the illegal trade: either we take action to stem the trade or wewill run out of the animals. There is no other outcome possible."

The fortuitous occurrence of this speech has strenghtened our hope and we extendto the Royal Family this prayer:

We, the undersigned Citizens of the World, respectfully petition His RoyalHighness Prince William and Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge ofGreat Britain whom we also honour as fellow world citizens, towit:

We ask that you kindly exercise your compassion, wisdom, generosity andinfluence towards bringing the slaughter, capture, captivity and trade ofDolphins in the Solomon Islands to a halt.

We appreciate the aid and assistance of All Others in this Mission and in particular would like to acknowledge the great Miami Dolphins Football Team for having

adopted the Logo of a Wild and Free Dolphin. Their foresight and example is most commendable.

It is towards the preservation of the nobility of humanity, the quality oflife for our children, the health of our oceans and ultimately the integrityof our planet that this noble cause is dedicated.

Respectfully presented by the undersigned on this the _________day of__________ 2013
