15 THANK YOU!
Friends of GlobeMed at CU-Boulder:!
It has been a great privilege to oversee the complete transformation of the GlobeMed chapter at CU-Boulder over the course of our first year. What started simply as an idea held by our four founding members last April has since become a highly effective organization of over 50 dedicated student staff members working tirelessly to create a more just, healthy, and equitable world.!
In reflecting on the year that has been, this report details an incredible set of activities and achievements including: raising over $20,000 for our partner in Nepal, sending 8 students to work alongside our partner, attracting top global health experts to speak to our community, and even going outside the bounds of our mission to lead a campaign after the earthquake in Haiti that generated over $103,00 for relief efforts.!
Yet what cannot be seen from descriptions of our activities and achievements in this report is that we have also succeeded in creating an organizational culture that ensures our future impact. This culture is what brings us the greatest amount of joy as the organizationʼs first set of Co-Presidents. GlobeMed at CU-Boulder prides itself on turning good intentions into effective action and has become an organization that grows individuals who display an uncommon mix of idealism, vision, effective leadership, and practical engagement in the pursuit of social justice and global health equity.!
The future of GlobeMed at CU-Boulder is bright because of this culture and because of your support. Thank you for all you do, and we look forward to continue working as a community to deliver health and social justice around the world.!
With hope and gratitude,! Mark Arnoldy and Emily King!2009-2010 Co-Presidents!
