Capital Improvement Program Highlights
More than $2.2B worth of DPW / SWB work in the next 8 years
Most comprehensive infrastructure program our region has seen in a generation.
More than 200 individual projects - every neighborhood will feel a positive impact.
Multiple Funding Sources: FEMA-funded road / waterline work, FEMA-funded Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) projects, HUD-funded National Disaster Resiliency Competition (NDRC) grant projects, SWB-funded Sewer System Evaluation and Rehabilitation Program (SSERP) (sewer consent decree) work and City-funded bond project work.
Work will create thousands of construction jobs across the city and maximize
economic opportunity for the City’s small and disadvantaged businesses.

Schedule: Construction will begin early Feb. 2019 and last
for approximately one year

Scope of Work
Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb-to-curb in
some areas;
Patching the roadway with asphalt in some areas;
Repairing some damaged sidewalks and driveway
aprons;
Installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb
ramp at intersections; and
Replacing/repairing damaged underground water,
sewer and/or drainage lines.

Waterline Replacements or Repairs

replacement of the waterlines on
the following streets: Madrid,
Burbank, Athis, Prentiss, Paris,
Charlotte, Bancroft, and
Pressburg.
Full road closures will occur on
Charlotte and Bancroft Drives for
full restoration.
Once the utility work is complete
the trench sites will be filled.
Paving work will follow.

What to Expect During Construction Traffic
One travel lane will be maintained, in each direction,
throughout construction on water line replacement
streets
Full road closures are necessary on Charlotte and
Bancroft drives during water line replacement work.
Limited parking available near trench site.
Crews will attempt to allow local access to driveways in
the evenings, depending on the location of the water
line replacement.

What to Expect During Construction

Efforts to minimize construction impacts
• Construction signage placed around the sites.
• Any temporary closures will be communicated in advance.
• Any changes to garbage and US Postal services will be
communicated in advance.
• Residents will be informed throughout construction.
Regular work hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Permission for occasional weekend work may be granted, if required.
