Film starts from Nargis


Story Line Basically story is based on life of prostitute girl. It is all time melody hit story. Meena Kumari performed two role in this movie. Movie starts with her dance. In first half hour consist of love story of Shahabbudin and Nargis. After Nargis’s death, aunt brough her to Kotha and taken her care. After 17 years Shahabbudin receives letter. After reading the letter he come to know that Sahebjan is daughter of Shahabbudin.

Navab Jafar Ali invites her. Elephants attack house boat resulting in separation of both.In the forest, she mate Salim. Gouharjan picks up her and takes to Gulabi Mahal. Again they meet in train & Salim takes her to his house. Due to difference in opinion of son and father, Salim & Sahebjan leaves the house.She narrates her story to Salim and tells him that she is Tavayaf. Despite the fact Salim says that he will marry to her. He changed her name to “PAKEEJAH”.

But unfortunately Sahebjan did not support Salim. Instead of marriage she goes back to GULABI MAHAL. Salim believed in love and he fighted against family, community & traditions.

He invites her for Mujara on the occasion of his marriage. After dance her aunt explains that she is daughter of Shahabbudin. Shahabbudin tells that her Dola should be lifted from Kotha. Salim accepts it. At the end doli is lifted from her Kotha.

Moral of story

Tavayaf are also Human Being.They have Right to Live Normal Life like others.

It is Equal Responsibility of the society also to accept them.


WHY DO I LIKE THIS MOVIE?

It is a very old melodious, Heart touching Hindi Movie.

Meena Kumari, Ashok Kumar & Raj Kumar acted excellently. All the actors delivered the dialogs excellently and impressively.

Kamal Amrohi wants to give social message through this film. He used Urdu in a simple manner for expressing emotions.
