MIRAMAX
This logo for the MIRAMAX FILMS production company is very effective
due to its simplicity, which is a convention I would like to re-create for my
own logo for the trailer. I think the logo works so well because it is not too
busy but still catches the eye as it is bold and the thick text contrasts well
with the black background it is typically found on. In addition to this, I think
this logo is effective because it automatically draws the eye to the key
purpose of the logo being there, the name of the company. Also, I like the
font used on this logo and would use a similar one myself because I feel
the density of the letters makes an impact whilst looking neat still.
DREAM WORK PRODUCTIONS
This is an iconic logo by DreamWorks Animation. The logo, unlike the Miramax production logo and a lot of others out there features an animation of a young boy on the moon with a fishing rod. This animation if so effective as it corresponds with the dream-like tone conveyed throughout the productions title ‘Dream Works’. Although such an image would not be suitable for one of our logos due to the horror nature of our trailer, I still think the logo and its fantasy like visual makes the logo memorable, which fulfils the purpose of advertising the company effectively.
MY OWN LOGO
This is a logo I created under the made up production logo name of ‘GROUNDBREAKING PRODUCTIONS’. I am proud of this logo as I think I stuck to the minimalistic style of conventions which work well. In addition to this I like this logo because I incorporated the shape into it rather than the logo being purely text as I feel this adds an extra element to the overall look. As I liked the type of font used within the Miramax logo I used a similar conventional, capital lettered bold typography. If I were to make another I would consider using colour other than black and white as it may work to make the logo appear more striking.
