With all the emails and tweets we received last week, it seemed as though you really enjoyed the home learning tasks based on the story ‘Yeti and the Bird’. Thank you so much for keeping in contact with us and showing us your wonderful work. For the next two weeks, we want you to become historians! Are you up for that challenge? We are setting you a project task, which we know you will thoroughly enjoy! We want you to learn all about the Great Fire of London. You need to do lots of research to find out about this important event in history and then present your findings in some way. We like the idea of you creating a Great Fire of London scrapbook full with interesting facts and pictures. With all the emails and tweets we received last week, it seemed as though you really enjoyed the home learning tasks based on the story ‘Yeti and the Bird’. Thank you so

challenge? We are setting you a project task, which we know you will thoroughly enjoy! We want you to learn all about the Great Fire of London. You need to do lots of research to find out about this important event in history and then present your findings in some

Reading – Read every day for pleasure for 15 minutes.

Comprehension tasks - Read the information about the Great Fire of

London and answer the questions (see below). The reading comprehension will give you the key facts about the event.

- Start to gather your own information about the Great Fire of London. Use the internet and read different sources of information to find out more. Note down important information you would like to use in your project.You will find a list of suitable websites below. I have also included some questions for you to answer to help you with your research.

- Read, cut out and sequence the events of the Great Fire of London (see below).

Writing - Using the information you have found out

about the Great Fire of London, write a newspaper report pretending you are a journalist reporting on a certain part of the fire, for example an article about how the fire started. Extra challenge – can you make your newspaper article look old?

- Create an acrostic poem about the Great Fire of London (several templates below). Use your senses to help you.

Spellings - Use the Great Fire of London word mat as your spelling list this week (see below).

- Use each word in a super sentence about the Great Fire of London.

- Complete the word search (see below)- Ask your grown up to test you on the spelling

of these words.

Basic Skill – Telling the time on an analogue clock. Ask your grown up to teach you how to tell the time. Start with recognising o’clock and half past. Then look at quarter past and quarter to. Jesus helps us when we make wrong choices.With your family, discuss making right/wrong choices and how you feel.

Jesus was gathering a group of people to help him spread the Good News. He chose people who would follow him faithfully and would be sorry for when they made wrong choices. Levi the tax collector was one of those people.

History – Start to put together your project on the Great Fire of London. It could be a scrapbook, a PowerPoint or video. Use your imagination. You will have two weeks to create your project.

This is what happened:One day Jesus saw Levi, the tax collector, sitting at his table collecting people’s taxes. Jesus knew Levi had not always been honest, but still he asked him to follow his way. Levi was really pleased at Jesus’ invitation and he got up and said: ‘Come to my house I am going to have a big party to celebrate.’ Levi changed his ways and became a friend of Jesus.

Science – How many objects can you take a picture of that are made out of wood? Can you find 10?
