New Products
Easy, Easier, the new EIB64-A by Dr. Baris Yesilyurt
EASYCAP is proud to announce the release of the EIB64-A, the
next-generation version of its 64 channel Electrode Input Box. The
EIB64-A is an innovative and easy-to-use interface that is used to
connect EEG recording caps and electrodes with Brain Products
BrainAmp amplifiers.
The EIB64-A replaces its predecessor, the EIB64 interface, which
was a 64-channel Electrode Input Box that only allowed electrodes
with single-input safety sockets to be connected to the BrainAmp
recording amplifiers. The EIB64-A comes with 64 single inputs for
1.5 mm touch-proof safety sockets, a double input for the reference
channel plus a double input for the ground channel, 2 common
connector inputs (each for 32 channels), 2 common connector
outputs (each for 32 channels), and 72 DIP switches to permit each
individual common connector channel to be switched either ON or
OFF.
This design makes the EIB64-A much more versatile than its EIB64
predecessor, enabling it to be used in the following scenarios:
1) Connecting up to 64 individual electrodes with BrainAmp
systems using EIB64-A as a quick-connect interface. It is quick
because only the flat ribbon cables need to be connected to (or
disconnected from) the amplifier, while the individual electrodes
can stay permanently plugged in.
2) Connecting a BrainCap or EasyCap with common connector
output and additional single electrodes to the same BrainAmp
Figure 2. Bridging defective electrodes using replacement electrodes, even during cap mounting
systems. This opens up new possibilities and enables the
additional single electrodes to be used not only for unipolar
measurements, but also for bipolar measurements when used in
combination with a bipolar BrainAmp ExG amplifier (see Fig. 1).
3) Bridging defective cap electrodes easily and quickly using
hook-on (or replacement) electrodes with single input safety
sockets without immediately having to replace the faulty
electrodes (see Fig. 2).
This very handy solution avoids you having to suspend taking
measurements or rescheduling impending recordings until any
faulty components have been replaced.
4) As with the EIB64-A’s predecessor, it will be possible to combine
2 or more EIB64-As for making measurements that involve more
than 64 channels by simply shorting the reference and ground
channels of 2 or more EIB64-As.
5) On request, and in return for a modest customization fee, other
input/output connector types can be built into the EIB64-A to make
it compatible with third-party amplifiers as well. The maximum
number of channels is 72.
We firmly believe that the new EIB64-A represents a great advance
for those of you who are working with EIBs. We hope you will agree!
