Responding to the COVID-19 pandemicThe COVID-19 crisis is affecting lives around the world. With the situationchanging daily, we will continue to keep you informed about updates in ourresponse to this unprecedented pandemic.

Stay Healthy KitHeart to Heart International'sPowrServ program has introduced ahygiene kit specifically designed toprevent the spread of illness. Someof the included items:

HHI Medical Volunteers in hospitals – Heart to Heart International hasdeployed 12 volunteer medical staff to support the work of InternationalMedical Corps in providing surge support for hospitals in New York City.Additional volunteers are deploying to Chicago this week.

Hygiene Kit Deliveries – 25,000 HygieneKits have been delivered to food banks,homeless assistance groups, nursing homes,churches, public safety organizations, schooldistricts and more in New York, New Jersey,Seattle, Florida, California, Minnesota, Kansas,Missouri, Louisiana, Chicago, and Detroit.

Medical Aid Shipped – 46 shipments ofpersonal protective equipment, medicines andmedical supplies, including n95 masks, patientmasks, thermometers, sanitizing wipes, andgloves, were sent to hospitals, healthcare offices,pharmacies and more. Supplies have beendelivered to facilities in Maryland, California,Kansas, Missouri, Virginia, Nebraska, Georgia,Texas, Illinois, Oregon, Minnesota and Indiana.

Community Health Workers – HHI teams in Haiti and Puerto Rico continue deploying community health care workers to educate the public on healthy lifestyles, hygiene practices, symptoms of COVID-19, and medical follow-up instructions. HHI has also established handwashing stations in the open-air markets in Pétion-ville, Haiti.

Community Support – HHIvolunteers are providing medicalcare at Hope Faith HomelessAssistance Campus and toindividuals waiting for COVID-19test results who are quarantined ina nearby hotel. To date, 45 patientshave been seen, with 5 suspectedCOVID-19 positive.

Infection Prevention and Control Training – HHI is providing online Infection Prevention and Control Training for medical and non-medical workers. So far, we have trained over 130 individuals on how to stop the spread of COVID-19 and how to mitigate the risks for the more than 10,000 highly vulnerable people they collectively serve.
