Pastor’s Note
Something that is un- deniable about the circumstances of Cath- olic parish life is the amount of people who
have left the Church. It is doubly true of our own parish. We all know some- one, whether a friend or a family mem- ber, who grew up Catholic but is no longer practicing, or is practicing at a different Catholic parish. A lot of par- ents will try to place the blame on themselves and ask, “What did I do wrong?” But the truth is that this isn’t the fault of any one individual. Sys- temic failure requires whole systems to fail. Nevertheless, we are never with- out hope because God is the one in charge; this is His Church and He’s al- ways working. Moreover, we can al- ways shift our strategies to follow Him and meet the needs of the current situ- ation. This is the reason why I asked Sr. Maria to shift from being the CCD Coordinator into her new role as the Works of Mercy Ambassador. The nor- mal practice for the Catholic Church for too long has been to wait for people to come to it. But we need to go out and search for those who aren’t here, and Sr. Maria has a lot of experience doing exactly that. Through hospital and home visits, comforting the grieving, finding food for the hungry, building relationships with the homeless, wel- coming new arrivals to our area, and praying with those in jails, Sr. Maria is uniquely equipped to find the people who are not here. Today as a parish we are thanking Sister for all the work she has done in CCD for our youth and catechists. We’re also praying that she can guide us all to go out and find the lost sheep. God bless you Sr. Maria and thank you for your willingness to take on this new role!

Reflection (Reflexin) July 11, 2021
Jesus wants every believer to believe what he believed, live as he lived, love as he loved and serve as he served. This is what the Gospel is calling us to do. We are called by Jesus to engage in God’s mission. A call to follow him and a willingness to obey. That is it. No qualification needed. He did not call the 12 disciples because they were quali- fied, rather he qualified the 12 , just as he will with us. And we shouldn’t be surprised if our calling comes with rejection or suffer- ing, afterall look at how he was rejected and suffered , and he was JESUS. However , we are accountable only for our faithfulness to engage in God’s mission while trusting God to produce the results. Let us follow him with a willing and obedient heart.
